Streets of Cairo Bull Whip
I reccently discovered a new method for aging the Streets of Cairo Bull Whip.
This method as the original does not dry out or damage the leather.
It even gives the edges of the strands a very used look.
Here is a link to the updated pictures on my website.

wow, that is gorgeous. I think I've found my next whip.....
Re: Streets of Cairo Bull Whip
Looks like a very well made whip - even though artificial aging seems a bit pointless to me. It doesn't take a whole lot of use to get a whip to look well used.
But again - very nice looking whip!

It's mainly for people who want a show piece, who won't ever use it, who want an aged look out of the box. see any point at all with artificial aging, as like you said, with a little use it looks plenty aged.

Absolutely fantastic! I'm really intrigued by the internal steel cable. How does a whip like that handle with that kind of hardware? It looks great!

Dusty,
Great work on the distressing.
My Raider is starting to look like that on its own.
Weston,
Dusty's whips handle quite well, but, they do have a feeling all their own.
The cable makes the point of the whip kind of springy and gives it a little extra flick at the end when you crack it.
It also gives you more feedback on the whip that is hard to describe. You can kind of feel it when the whip cracks.
All in all, they are wonderful handling whips that crack quite easily.
I had Dusty build mine with a 9" handle and a little extra transition. It handles more like a target whip but looks like a Raiders whip. I love it!
When funds allow, I think I'll get me a 10' Indy 4 from Dusty. Don't know what I'll do with it, I just want one of them monsters.

Kevin let me handle his C&C whip at the last QM summitt, and I gotta say that I was pleasantly surprised by the way it handled. It cracked with ease, and didn't feel "weird". I expected some strange handling due to the cable, but all in all, I can't say that I noticed. That is, I didn't notice anything that felt wrong about it. It just seemed like a very well made whip that cracked great. Yes, it has a voice of its own, but that's true of every whip I've ever handled, even whips made by the same whipmaker. So, yes, it's unique, but not so unique that it seeemed uncomfortable. The only whip that I think handled very strangely was my Jacka Indy IV. The transition zone in that whip, combined with the heft and weight distribution made it awkward. Kevin's C&C whip had none of those problems.

I just think that if steel were used for the handle, there wouldn't be too much a problem, but going almost as light as possible,DarenHenryW wrote:Thanks for adding your two cents, Kevin!kwad wrote:Dusty,

with such a short handle and thick whip... I can definitely see how that would be awkward, which is why the crystal skull style
whip I'm preparing has a 3/8" wide 7" steel handle, as opposed to a 3/8" 7" fiberglass handle.

Hey Daren,
I think "it has it's own voice" is a great way of putting it.
Dusty makes great whips, he just has a different way of doing it.
I remember you let me crack your Jacka CS a few years back. Took me three tries just to get a cattleman's crack out of it, then my forearm hurt.
Hopefully I'll be seeing you at the next Summit. I need some pointers.

Re: Streets of Cairo Bull Whip
I love the way my 8-foot CnC KOTCS handles. It seems as if it very efficiently (and easily) transfers its energy all the way down. It feels "alive." The problem is, I don't have a quality traditionally constructed whip to compare it to.
C'mon, guys, let's cracktice!

Looks great Dusty!!
My ten foot Raiders whip from Dusty looks great as well. I am purely a novice to whips and whip cracking but I was able to do a simple crack right off the bat and it felt very easy to do. I was expecting the 10 foot to be much more difficult (which it may be as I try harder cracks) Unfortunately I have been really busy so have not had any time to work on it very much yet.

No problem Dusty. I'm just speakin' the truth!
Looking at all these great whips you have been turning out lately, I think I'm going to start another whip fund.
