Wallpaper paste

Post by darthbish »

I was recently advised by someone whose hat knowledge I have a great respect for, to use a water based wallpaper paste..(with a consistancy somewhere between milk and cream)..as a felt stiffener....Just brush it on the inside of the hat, after removing the liner.
I did....and I've gotta say that I'm in LOVE with the stuff.

Has anyone else tried this??

No, I used hat stiffener from Leko. Just use a spray bottle for a nice even coat, and brush it in to make sure it all gets absorbed (as opposed to slinging like little dew droplets to all the fuzzies.

I've used Aquanet unscented extra super hold hair spray on a panama and some cloth hats, and it works great with no residue. However, I've not used it on felt yet. I was told at a western hat store, here in Las Vegas, that the stiffener they use smells just like the hair spray and that they recommend the hair spray to a lot of thier customers. YMMV :CR:
