Whipersnapper

Post by IndianaGuybrush »

Well I finally took the plunge and snagged a 10' Stenhouse off eBay. It was hands down the most expensive impulse item that I have ever bought, but I have been craving a whip since I've seen the Indy movies and when I saw the condition of the one on eBay it bought itself.

Now that I have the tool I need to know how to use it. I would appreciate if anyone could recommend a good DVD or book for a beginner. I have NO whip experience but I am extremely eager to learn. Thanks folks.

Wow good snag! You will enjoy it. I have several Paul Stenhouse's. Rock solid whips that you can depend on.

Get Paul's DVD or VHS video. It's the best video I have ever seen, primarily because it has an in-depth maintenance section.

I would recommend "The ways of whips I and II" from the whipman Peter Jack.
http://www.thewhipman.co.nz/intro_4.html
He shows many aspects how to use a whip and some maintenance stuff.
Also very good are the videos from Mike Murphy, "Fundamental whipcracking technics" and "maintenance and repair".
