What do you guys think about this one.....

Post by Gorak »

I bought this off a fellow gearhead sometime back but I hardly wear it. I love the leather but something about it just doesn`t make me reach for it often. I believe it is a "cracked" lambskin or crackled or something like that. It is different from anything I have seen before and while the color and grain are awesome, it is kinda stiff. I wanted to display it and see what you guys thought about it. Going thru all my jackets and trying to decide which ones to keep...

I think it looks good. The leather looks very distinguished...if you know what I mean. Who is the maker?

OOps, I forgot to mention that, didn`t I.....its a Wested. And I don`t know why but the back panel really poofs out when I raise my arms...like unnaturally poofs. I think it is either because the leather is too stiff or the action pleats are very deep. Thanks though. I know what you mean about the leather. I have been pondering selling it off but this leather just hypnotizes me and I wait...

The fit looks very good...maybe soften it up with some leather conditioner?

I really like that one. It doesn't look like every other Indy jacket, if you know what I mean. And it flatters you. If it were me, I'd hold onto that one... unless it was uncomfortable and just sitting in your closet. That one deserves to be worn, by you or somebody else.

I bought it off a member here so if he sees this I'll let him chime in as I really don't know. I think I remember him saying that it was an OTR Raiders. And it has shoulder pads inside so I assume it is a much older version as I don't think Wested does that any longer. I think he said that he selected this leather special from Peter.

I believe that is a 'ROLA' style jacket made in the 'crunch' leather. It's a smart looking leather. Some of the early ROLAs have shoulder pads. They are more a 5mm lining than a 'pad'. But I know how people get excited about them! They are easy enough to remove if you find em in your jacket. :)

crunch leather! that's it! and you are very correct on the shoulder pads....i didn't even notice them untill my wife asked when she leaned on my shoulder. hardly noticable.
and I like the leather so much that this is the first jacket that I could.care less about screen accuracy!
