Steer pucks and apologies.....

Post by Gorak »

First off, I want to publicly apologize to US Wings. I was on the 'icky' side with all the Legend activities. I tried very hard not to say anything negative and even went back and edited some of my post but I was still left feeling 'icky' about all that transpired. And after three Legends, I was really jaded. Again, those armholes!
But, I had alittle extra cash available and decided to try one more time. This time I went with the US made Texas Steerhide Legend and let me tell you, oh what a difference!
The fit feels 100% different than the imports. Feels custom made almost. The pattern looks exactly the same but the armholes are much more snug and fitted as are the arms and body. The arms are much longer and there was even extra to let out.
The leather is really cool. Not SA Raiders as it is much more chocolate brown but that no longer matters with this jacket. It is very soft but alittle on the heavy side. It scuffs very easily and within one day of wearing it, it totally looked lived in. I really want to work this one in hard to see what it would look like. I think it will easy get a Last Crusade type distressing in a Raiders style jacket.
The lining is very nice and much much better than the imports. It is actually fitted into the jacket and doesn`t float. I was going to water spray the collar and work it in as it arrives kinda flat but it stuck after just molding it with my hands.
Overall, it is a very cool Indiana Jones jacket. Doesn`t exactly scream Raiders to me but the jacket is so awesome in other ways that it doesn`t even matter. I`ve worn it constantly with no Indy gear and have already recieved many compliments. So, I apologize to US wings for not trusting them completely. I feel I should have originally gone for the US version of whatever jacket I bought from them. The leathers on the imports are exquistite but for fit, style, comfort, durability, quality, and all around coolness, the US made version is a real winner.

Ick can be a terrible thing!

Glad this one worked out for you. My two sons have the kids Texas steer hide legends and that leather is sooooooo cool! Not really Indy, but its awesome all the same. And the smell... :D Those jackets are a year old and that is STILL all you smell when you walk into their closets! Its great!!

I don't think you will be disappointed with the Steerhide. I'm glad to see you found some happiness with US Wings. Years ago I myself wouldn't have considered an Indy jacket from them. However, the Legend changed all of that. After I received my US Made Steerhide I was sold.

That looks fantastic, Gorak! I think the US Legends, especially in cowhide, do not scream Raiders, but somehow embody something about all four jackets.

Looks a bit like Wested's washed goat. Which Indy jacket in the collection is this one, tenth  ? Could you make some comparison of all of them?
