Something that really threw me for a loop when I first started making whips, was Bernie's plaiting. It doesn't look like he's pulling the

strands very tight, but he is! In one of his videos I saw him break a strand, and you could tell he was pulling a LOT harder than it

looks.

I learned to plait watching Bernie's videos. Before that, I would pull the strand, then work it. It wasn't until the how it's made

episode ( or something mentioned to me slightly beforehand ) that I realized I needed to be plaiting MUCH tighter than what I was.

All I can say is that it looks like an awful lot of work for the money. It's got to be an act of love making these whips.

That is, in my opinion, the most important factor in whip making. You have to have a passion for it. If you don't you'll never try to

better your work, and you'll eventually get bored with it and stop.
