Getting a Wested darker??

Post by Andymac84 »

So, I took a research but didn't find nothing quickly...
How do I get my wested "authentic brown lambskin" darker, as the one on screen??
Do I really have to use black shoe polish? :-k

not much you can do really, I tried with my old one years ago and it still shows the same authentic color. I tried everything. balck shoepolish only will get it darker for a period of time and will wear of again leaving a splotchy effect.

best thing you can do is to sell this one and get yourself a dark brown lambskin.

Wait until you see the new restored print of Raiders in the theater (if you have a chance). There are a lot of scenes where the jacket is more brown than dark brown. (That said, I also like the dark brown look a lot).

I've tried it. the brown tint, the regular, oils, nothing makes it darker. it makes it wetter looking and may look darker alittle time but whe it dries your just right back to where the jacket was.

I can speak to this as well. I tried the same as mentioned above. All that happened in the long run is the jacket became more supple. Color was the same in the end. My ideal color from Wested would be somewhere in between Authentic and Dark. From the pics I've seen on here, Todd's pretty much nails it. I'll have to see one in person though...
