Re: Raiders vs LC Back Lenght
The most important thing is how it fits on you. Some like their jackets to be shortened somewhat, while others may prefer the jacket to be slightly longer for everyday wear. I noticed that there appeared to be differences between the Raiders and LC jackets, as I would need a 25 1/2" BL for the Raiders jacket, and around 27" BL for the LC jacket. Curious, I posed this sort of question to the man, and here is what he said:
"Yes it is a different pattern.
The shoulders also are more sloped on the crusade
Wear and be happy
Cheers
Peter"
So you or others might take that into consideration when placing a future order. The patterns are different but the features are similiar. Typically, the LC yoke is wider, as are the arm holes, so that means that the sleeves are usually wider. Because the arm holes are wider, the jacket tends to ride up more than the Raiders jacket, when the arms are lifted. If you really like that pattern, you can compensate for this idiosyncrasy by requesting RoLA sleeves and gussets, for instance. Though not entirely SA, this will give you a better range of motion. Again, I think it more important to get the best fit for you. fyi.

I think there is about 2 or 2.5'' lenght difference between the two.
Nowak copied the original raiders which measured about 23.5'' backlength the Lc's where 25.5'' or 26'' maby 26.5''

In some scenes, the LC jacket appears to be pretty short, like the Raiders jacket. Maybe a better way to think about it personally, is where should the back length end when compared to your pants (assuming your belt line is around your waist properly)? It would appear the proper back length is just above or along the top edge of the back pocket flaps, IMO.

Then again it will take into consideration if we are talking natural waist or commonly worn pant area.

Sure, but this is personal preference. But, you're right, either way, natural waist, or a bit lower, will make quite a difference when looking at proper back length for an Indy jacket.nicktheguy wrote:Then again it will take into consideration if we are talking natural waist or commonly worn pant area.
I'm 5' 10," and a 25" back length is about perfect as it sits just at the tops of the back pockets of my jeans.

That's a good point. Do we know for certain that all the Raiders jackets were cut at 23.5 - or just the one given to TN?Holt wrote:I think there is about 2 or 2.5'' lenght difference between the two.

It's funny but to me all the Indy jackets look about the same length - depending on the shot. It's the difference in the leather which catches my eye - the stiffness of LC and CS, the softness of Raiders, the wrinkling and wear in the ToD.

Re: Raiders vs LC Back Lenght
It looks almost as short as the Raiders jacket (to me) in this shot:

I say the LC jacket is shorter simply because Ford is older so his pants are naturally going to be hiked up more...

This is exactly how I have always viewed it as well. There are a great deal of variables involved here when you think about it. I would imagine that just like hats -- no two exactly being perfectly idendtical in size -- the same would also be true with jackets -- custom made or not. Variances do occur. W>

Am I correct in thinking that the shoulders are really wide on the Temple of Doom jacket?CM wrote:It's funny but to me all the Indy jackets look about the same length - depending on the shot.
