It's seal brown, IMO the very best for the Hero :TOH:
Absolutely agree. The seal brown lamb is perfect.

I agree. The seal brown is such a nice color. I have an older dark brown lamb Wested from '06, which at the time I thought was very S.A., but next to the seal brown, I will admit I was wrong. Seeing it now in different lighting and really looking at the screen grabs, this one nails it perfectly.

And by the way, Mitch, awesome avatar. I haven't been around much lately and just caught a glimpse. Very cool.

Having spoken to a close mate about the quality of his Hero I decided to pull the trigger on one for myself...This WILL BE the final jacket I buy...I think..As I simply can't justify having more than 5 Indy jackets to anyone else....So...There...Decided... :#:

................Probably...

Went with Seal Brown Lambskin, 25.5 inch back, 24.5 sleeves (my length pretty much, having experience with Wested), and cotton/satin combo (I love)...Just sent the order in, so will post pics once it arrives...

Regards! (And thanks for the photos here that decided me!) :TOH:

Thanks Michaelson for reminding us that no matter how hard we try, and no matter how much we say "Really. This is the last one." We never really stick to that.

I'm looking forward to seeing the jacket, Fifth! I'm setting things up (post school work) to start selling off some of my current Indy gear to go towards getting a Hero in goat. I like seeing new jackets, even if they aren't mine!

I shall never say "last one", (I'm eyeing the new offerings from Filmjackets) ;)

The top of the heap for me are my Nowak goat and my seal brown lamb Wested Hero. But now and again I crave cowhide. :-k

Michaelson is right of course...

I should say that this is probably the last jacket I'll be buying (this year?), since from all I've seen here the Hero does look rather great...

That said, filmjackets version might have to be looked at.. And there are still four skins or so in the Hero that I haven't seen yet!

So.... I retract all those statements..

I've a question regarding the back length. My tailor measured me at 58cm (~23") - from collar stand down to the tailbone -which seems the smallest size you can order at the Wested Website. I'm 1,85m (6") and not sure if this really is the right thing to order. :-k

Entirely agreed with Holt...

I'm 5'8" and ordered 25 for the back.... That'll look shorter than my usual jackets, but about right for a Raiders...You're 6 foot, so start at 25 for a shorter length and work up depending on your taste in jacket length...

My Hero jacket, seal brown lambskin.
Size 40
Sleeve 24.5"
back 25"

You can see the extraEXtra room in the shoulders, and thus the front panels, but I rather like the overall presentation. It's still nice and snug when I zip it all the way up (like my previous CUSTOM Raiders, which was a 38, but a little less so).

I'm 6'1" and ordered a 26.5" on my first Hero in shrunken lamb and it was WAY too long. I have since ordered 24.5" back length and it's perfect. A lot depends on where you carry your height. I have somewhat longer legs proportionally. Also, it depends on your preference for length. I like mine right at my back pockets, not halfway down my bottom-side. :TOH:

Ravenswood,

You haven't done anything to the leather? It's remarkable... I've seen some of the lambskin jackets look shiny as glass when new... Yours looks great... Just wearing?

I'm going to be very happy I ordered this jacket! :D

The front on photo looks just like the Raiders behind scenes shot taken with Marion in the desert....Very cool stuff! :TOH:

Thanks, Fifthchamber! :TOH:
And that would be the leather as it appeared straight out of the bag :D

I went for a calculated risk in sizing up from my usual 38 to a 40. The extra length in the front panels becomes obvious when the jacket is unzipped...still kind of getting used to the look:

One things for sure, if that's "fresh out the bag", I'm in for a treat when mine arrives...I love the look of that hide on you...It really works well...

That, with a little bit of natural aging would be PERFECT....

Thanks for re-assuring me by the way! Me and Gemma had a little back and forth about what skin I would be happiest with, and I chose goat, then lamb based on what people here had posted...I think your shots validate that choice entirely, so thank you for that!

Perhaps you could try the hang off the neck look a touch more to pull the front back up a little? The Raiders design really favours that position I think..."Neck breathing space" perhaps? :TOH:

Either way, quality jacket and well worn! :TOH:

I am really, really impressed and I'm very happy with the Crispe lamb and think it's a very nice leather. The jacket can easily be molded to hold any shape and since it is more proper fitting than before, it doesn't feel heavy at all, but like a very substantial quality leather jacket. Can't wait to have this one broken in and have already worn it in the rain. Hats off to you Peter!   :TOH: Thank you!

Thanks for the compliment, backstagejack. :TOH: I really like this one a lot! The first one I got was way too big on me, so I sent Peter pics of myself wearing the ill-fitting jacket and he knew where to make all the Right adjustments. This one is currently my favorite jacket and whenever I slip it on, I always feel bulletproof. I am also happy to say that the jacket has darkened up considerably since when the above photo was taken and is very, very broken in and much more relaxed.

I've just received my Hero from Wested....

First impressions? Stunning..... Absolutely stunning... This jacket IS the jacket for me.. Absolutely perfect work.. And I'm really happy with the sizing for me too... I went 46, in the Seal Brown Lambskin.. And the product brand new is wonderful to look at.. Not especially shiny, close, tight grained and rich brown... You've all seen other peoples Jackets here, so you know what I'm talking about, but I'll get some photos up here in the next few days so you can see why I'm so over the moon about this jacket...

Peter, Gemma, and all the team there at Wested, you've outdone yourselves... This is high quality work and I'm very glad I saved enough to cover this... It's THE JACKET for me..

Thank you Wested... This is one GREAT Christmas present..

Warmest regards. :TOH: :TOH:

I love it...Yeah, and thanks for your photos Nick...They and the rest were what convinced me that Wested had something worth the buying again... :TOH:

I ordered some Aldens and they'll come on the 30th this month, so perhaps I can convince my girlfriend to take a ride into the hills near here again and get some decent photos of it all again? ("Properly" kitted up for the first time I guess!? :) )....

Thanks to all those who posted their jackets up on this thread... It's the best way to see what ACTUALLY comes in the post, since Wested's website photos still aren't quite as great as those here... ;)

If Wested ever wants to get better photos up, I'm sure in the 9+ pages here there'd be more than a few willing to "throw in" eh? Anyway...Just an idea...

Thanks mate! :TOH:

I'm having a little trouble deciding on what size jacket to order.
These new jackets seem to have less "wiggle room" than the previous pattern.

Could someone please provide the chest measurement of a size 42?

Here's a sneak preview video of me trying on my replacement HERO Jacket for the first time, straight out of the bag! I downsized to a 38, with a 25 inch back and 27 inch sleeves. It is off at the leather specialist getting the sleeves shortened by about an inch and a quarter.

I probably could have gone with a 24 inch back, but I erred on the side of "longer", if for no other reason than to keep my lower back and sides warmer during those long waits at the bus station in 35 degree weather. Plus, I just have a long torso.

As it happens, the leather in this replacement jacket is thicker and heartier than the previous size 40 that I had. This one's gonna last me through the ages!

Jacket looks great. Love the video.....exactly what I wanted my next reviews to be on as I think it could REALLY show what the product moves like and adjusts as one moves in real time. Can`t wait to see this jacket once it is broken in. Congrats.

He told me there was difficulty with the suppliers, in short.
No update on the site and nothing since so it would seem the situation is the same :-k
