Mutt's Jacket for Indy 5?
Just got this one off a well known auction site.
I've been looking for a black leather jacket, but have been hampered with A. I'm not a huge fan of maderine/cafe collars and B. I'm even less of a fan of perfecto style motorcycle jackets. Sure, I could go with a black Indy style jacket from any of our friendly vendors, but even I would think that would look too close.
So, I spent time looking for something in a half-belt type style. Anything vintage I was finding was in brown or I'd have to go custom at considerable expense. One jacket I really like is the Schotts 585 Vintage. I could get it made in black, but again there's a big price tag on that. I figured while I was saving up for the 585 I'd see if I could find anything I like as much for less.
Well, came across an auction for a Harley Davidson jacket. Had the collar I like, some cool features in the pockets, a single piece back which I've come to prefer over having a seam down the back and did not have a huge HD logo embossed or embroidered across the front or back. The size was right and the price even better. I put in the minimum bid and got it!
The only branding on the jacket is this very discreet embroidering on the sleeve.
Well, there was also these. A fun surprise not mentioned in the auction listing.
It's heavy, 6.6 lbs according to the shipping courier. I really feel it when I'm wearing it.
I'm very happy with it and it scratches the itch for a black jacket.
Regards,
Indiana Jeff

Dude....that it UBER-cool!
Being in the market for a vintage half-belt or cafe racer myself, that one puts a slightly different spin on things....nice compromises between the elements of each, plus you get a copious amount of cargo space with those safari-style pocket configurations....
Love it, man....unique and distinctly you!
Can't ask for better than that!

Thank you much, kind sir. Like I said, it scratched the itch and at over $600 savings from what I would have spent on the Schotts.

Cool jacket. (But I'm hoping that if there's an Indy 5, the boy's not in it.)

I was hoping that he'd be in a straight jacket for Indy 5.
