Ladies and Gentlemen, this thread needs a bump.

I don't have my full post ready, but I'm give you just a little taste of what's to come . . .

Between the summer and today, I acquired FOUR new Penman hats. One arrived mid-summer, two I picked up when I visited John in August, and one just came today . . .

And here it is:

Image

This hat is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! It's Sahara, with a brown (much lighter than an Indy brown) ribbon. Also, the ribbon is a bit taller than an Indy ribbon. And it has a bound edge, with a sort cream color material. As to the model, it's a "Penman".

Inside of a week, I'm gonna make a larger post, and show you all the newbies . . .

I'm a happy man!

John, you are a genius! Thank you again for everything! :notworthy:

Daren, that is one sharp lid my friend. I think I know what my next hat will be \:D/
I've been wanting something a little more formal than my AB and I really dig that
color and the bound edge.

Awesome looking hat Daren! Looks a lot like my last Penman (also a sahara and looks like the same ribbon...?). And you wear it well! How many Penmans do you own now??

4 Raiders (two brown, one gray, one charcoal)
1 LC Brown
3 "Penman" fedoras (green, pecan, sahara)

So . . . 8. Wow! I actually only thought it was 7 . . . Dang! That's a lot.

And yes, I think our hats are very similar. Yours was definitely an influence!

My BIG post, will feature all of my new hats, as well as at least one group shot! :)

This week I ordered a Raiders styled Henry in brown. John said he's temporarily out of my size, so I'll be waiting a little while. I'll post a pic when it arrives.

Looks awesome Daren. We can all thank Steve for the sahara obsession we all have now. Had it not been for that hat he made for Michaelson, I don't think we would be considering it as often as we do. He then made one for Marc, myself, and another member. Then John made a few, Nick got one, and his fiance got another, I think...she looks better in it than you, Nick.

This one is one of my favorites though. The bound edge is a nice touch. When I can swing it again, I have my next Penman planned, which is an oxblood, can't remember the exact name of the color, hat with the same dimensions as the charcoal one John made for me, but with a welted edge. Order will probably come some time in January or February, John.

Over the weekend I went up to Minnesota to visit some friends and do some camping and hiking. During the hiking, my green Raiders got dropped, crushed, bashed by countless branches, rained on, smashed into/dragged along fallen tree trunks that we had to crawl under, and accidentally sat on. After all that the thing still looked brand new (aside from a little dirt). I am now completely, 100% sold on the "bulldog tough" slogan.

Took my Penman with me on a hike into the Olympics a month ago. It was a perfect day with my wife and grandsons. Loaded my vintage (WPG) bag to the hilt with camera and trail food. It was heavy and I was all over the place climbing up and down rock and the ring canvas held beautifully. I was a little worried after reading about them giving out. The strap is Jake's 7/8" CS.

Okay, here's my big post that I've been promising. I think every one of my Penmans is represented here except for my LC in beaver. Otherwise, this is it.

I don't have anything on order right now, so this will probably be the last post I put up of my own photos for some time. I realize that I've been a bit of a post-hog, so that's why I wanted to do this post with just two pics, each featuring a collage. I think this will give everyone an idea of how I've been dressing for work the last few months (I'm a high school English teacher, by the way, in case anyone didn't already know that and is wondering). And no, Ian, my other lids are not being neglected, as this post clearly proves.

:)

Hope you guys like 'em. John, you know that I love 'em.

Image

Image

BTW, Sorry for the redundant poses and background. I just decided to chronicle my look every day for a few weeks, thus, the same angle and pose, etc.

And so, omitting the LC in Beaver you should spot three "Penmans" (dark moss in beaver, pecan in rabbit, and sahara in beaver); two brown Raiders hats in beaver (one with Fuller's Earth, one without); One charcoal Raiders Seaplane in beaver, and one granite Raiders hat in beaver (my wedding hat). So that's 8 Penmans that I now own, 7 of which are found in these photos.

:)
