If you used the fed as a raw body did you have to use a flange too to get the brim right? Or were you basically reblocking the fed on a different block than it had originally been blocked on?Holt wrote:thanks.
it's just what I did. took one of my old feds. soaked it. took of the ribbon and use it only as a raw body to make a new hat out of it. then I turned it, bashed it and tweaked the details.
I'm really thinking of doing this to HJ's little brother. the hornet.

Thanks, Holt. I just wasn't clear after reading Ian's post. Thanks for clearing it up.

Sorry about that....Not got the hang of the Tapatalk yet...I've just edited the smiley to what it was supposed to be and not the 'whistle' smiley....ShanghaiJack wrote:Thanks, Holt. I just wasn't clear after reading Ian's post. Thanks for clearing it up.

Nice! Good to see that the felt can take it as well. Good old Aussie hare!

Holt, that hat looks too dang good! How about I send you a brand new fed and you reblock it for me on that magic block of yours? What size did you say it was again ?
Seriously though, would you mind putting up some more pics of your block with measurements? I've found a vintage block I'm considering purchasing, but would love to be able to compare it to yours first.

Wested's HH. I'd like to have a super-durable LC styled jacket myself.
