Alligator Bullwhip!

Post by louiefoxx »

My favorite whips to make are ones with exotic leather handles. In the past I've used shark and sting ray for handles. My latest whip uses alligator for the handle:

You can see more pictures of it on my blog at http://bullwhips.org as well as some pictures of it being made!

Hope you think it looks as cool as I do!

Turned out very nice. How did you attach the alligator over the handle? Just glue?

The alligator it attached to the bullwhip's handle in 4 different ways!

1. Cement
2. Tacks
3. Binding
4. Stitching

If you look closely at the last picture at http://bullwhips.org/?p=4881 on the top of the handle you can see the edge of the stitching.

The pattern in the handle makes it look a bit like a shellacked piece of bamboo, or the like. Interesting!

Congratulations, Louie. Your experimentation with different hides always adds variety to your projects.
