I found this jacket at Sportsman's Guide Outlet. I've been stopping in there for the past 8 years every once in awhile and have bought close enough shirts and pants, but this time I found a jacket. They only had one and it happened to be my size. And here's the BEST part, it only cost me $57! By the way, the brand is Burk's Bay. I've never heard of it either.

Apparently this particular model is called "Brushed Napa Coat"...

A quick search found them online for as low as $139... Not a bad option at all.

That is a deal! If anyone is just looking for a jacket for Halloween, I would say you would be hard pressed to do any better.

Yeah, these have been talked about coming from various retail outlets. I think there is a seam the runs along the top of the pockets to the stormflap?

For that price you can not go wrong!

I really like this jacket! I've seen the same one sold for up to $349.00 but the smart shopper can find it for $144.97 from where I got it. I wonder if mine found its way to their outlet store by accident? I've looked it over twice and haven't found any flaws. Yes, there is that seam.

I just found out that napa is made from sheepskin and is very durable, so now I like it even better!

I'll post a pic when I get a chance to take one. If there's one thing that would bother me about the jacket if I were trying to go for more screen accuracy, it's the finish. It has a brushed feel to it, which I personally like, but some of you may not. As far as how it fits me, it is a large and I am tall and thin, so it fits great in the shoulders and chest but I wouldn't mind having an extra inch in length and arms. So it fits like anything else I buy off the rack...good enough. I'm sure an XL would have been too big in the chest and shoulders. I'll see if I can't get some pics by this weekend.

Looks fantastic! I had one from Sportsman Guide from around 12 years ago; suede like leather, and padded. It was oversized on me, but it was a good jacket to crawl under cars with. If it looked as awesome as yours does, I would have kept it!

Back then I think they offered the style in a suede pigskin. I saw one years ago at the store but it wasn't even near my size.

Me too! Mine was full of tiny holes just like a pair of pigskin gloves. I thought it was @#$% and sent it back...

If it looked like that I'd still have it for sure!

Thanks for all the kudos! The hat was given to me from a friend who bought it for just a couple bucks at a thrift store. It was a big old cowboy hat until I took off the band, made a block out of scrap lumber, re-blocked it, trimmed the brim and put on a ribbon $1 (natural distressing from spelunking, rock climbing and mowing the lawn). The jacket you know about, $57. The shirt is a Laguna with epaulets and pocket flaps $10. The pants are French officer's with a button-fly and back pocket flaps $8. Belt $2. The shoes are Eddie Bauer, which were on clearance for $20. It's been an adventure just finding these things!

If you are interested in smoothing down the nap of the jacket, I'll bet a good rubdown with Pecard's might help! (Or it's generic counterpart!!!)

Now to burst my own bubble.
Doing further research on napa leather, I find that it is, in fact, pigskin.

Here's some of what I've read,

In the past, Nappa has been known as the 'Poor Man's Leather', or the 'Poor Man's Substitute for Lambskin'. Today, Nappa is cutting deep into the mass market and may already dominate it's total sales. It's quality is no where near High Grade First Cut Top Grain Leather. However, if processed well, it has proven very acceptable to Consumers. Durability, however, is not the Manufacturer's or Re-Seller's concern here. You will buy more jackets and buy jackets more often, thereby raising Manufacturer Profits. Too often, Pig Nappa Products are poorly processed and made from 'Buff, Flank, or Spilt Leather' without Retailer or Consumer knowledge.

Am I still happy with the $57 jacket? Yes, but not as elated because I don't know how durable it will be. I do love how it fits though.
Would I pay over a hundred bucks for it? Probably not, but then what would I pay over $100 for?
Do I recommend it for you to buy? I guess that depends on what you're looking for.
