Does anyone have a Victor Tella Indy Bullwhip?

Post by Blake Bruning »

I am going to buy one from him near the end of this year, but I was wondering if anyone had one and could let me know what you think of them. I know they are the real deal, I would just like an opinion or two. As far as the look...doesn't his Indy Whip seem to be more glossy then any other Indy Whip? Is that just good picture taking or is there something special he does?

If they are more shiny he just uses either thicker shellac or more coats of shellac.

His Indy Whip(from the website pic) looks smoother and shinier then any other Indy Roo whip I have seen. I wish there were whip shows where you could just go and really check them out in person instead of "Pay and Pray"!

Shiny isn't necessarily a good thing. Just because a whip is shinier than another doesn't mean it's better. Plus, the part of the whip

he shows in the picture is the part that is more smooth than the point. It's like this on pretty much every whip.

Only complaint I have about his indy whip , from that one picture, so it may not be the only  is the heel knot. It's not

shaped like an indy heel knot, and he ties the knot completely around the knob. While most whip makers, david morgan included,

has the end of the knob covered by a piece of leather, not by the knot. Kind of like this:
