Gorak,

I don't see anything on the website about the vents.
It does mention the "correctly-sized small side gaps". I do believe they are refering to the gaps in the back panel where it meets the shoulder seams.

I have put it "into my cart" like 5 or 6 times and then just keep stopping...I have some great jackets...don`t need another one...but this leather goatskin just keeps calling me.....so before the sale runs out, can anyone tell me how high up the side vents are on the bottom of the jacket? The website description claims that they are "correctly" small. I need high vents...that`s my personal demon of screen accuracy- the side vents and strap configuration. So if anyone can measure theirs on a medium and post I would greatly appreciate so I can maybe decide before this fantastic sale ends! :TOH:
the vents go 4'' up on the sides like all are made.

so they are high enuff to give an Indy feel. but not high enuff to get that flap and the droop in the front panels of the jacket when you bend down. (make sence?)

However, they are higher then their standard jackets which is pretty small. Temple of doom height. 2'' I believe...

the standard vent height is 5''. at least on all Indy jackets I have seen or handled or read about. wested. todds. nowak, magnoli, I think GB has 5'' to?

Me too...and I REALLY don`t need one but this is really a good deal on one of "our" type of jackets and the pics you guys have been posting have got me drooling. ... if it is as good as I am thinking, I may have to sell off more of my other jackets that are starting to collect dust! Between my Magneto Russian Attack, my Hero, and washed goat, I am really set for the mild winters we get here in South Texas. =P~ =P~ =P~

Got my 30th Legend Goatskin! I'll try and get measurements later, but I'll tell you it is EXACTLY the same pattern as my cowhide imported Legend. No variance here. Quite honestly, we all measure differently so when there are discrepancies between one person's and another's, it might not be the jackets.

Image

I've owned two goatskin jackets; Nowak goat, and a G&B (no longer have it). The US Wings is definitely the drappy-est. The grain is similar to the G&B, but I like it better. It FEELS like a Bantu Wind jacket!!!! Definitely, a great stand in for lamb.

Out of the box, the jacket looks horrible :) The collar during shipping gets a weird shape, which probably needs some water shaping. I think it would look great once broken in, just explaining why there are no photos of it on.

Unfortunately, the hide used for my jacket was not evenly tanned. I don't mind small variances in color, in fact I like it. But there are patches of almost white leather. I'm sure it's not up to Wings' standards either and there will be no problem with an exchange.

I'm expecting mine tomorrow too, although, I won't be here to sign for it. I'll have to pick it up Saturday ... I hope.
When I ordered mine, I told them that I wanted the darkest jacket with the least amount of aging.
We'll see what happens.

With fingers crossed.

Texan Scott- this one boiled down to "available funds" at this particular time. I've had a USWings Newzealand Lamb and wanted to see this goatskin firsthand.

Canasta-I was unaware one could put in the word for specifics. Did you just ask in the "comments" section of the order form?

Back length: 25.25"

Is the goatskin soft like the lamb ?
Wow. The shoulder measurements seems to suggest this is even smaller than the size small Legend Cow (Steerhide) Imported which I had. It was a little big for my frame. Hopefully a size small of this Legend Goat will fit me well.

Okay..here`s mine.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... 111942.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... 112508.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and here I have the Wings on my right side and my Wested Hero on the left. I was hoping for a good way to model the differences but with the shadowing, they look just about the same...at least you can see the color difference.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... 112552.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The same way some of you have your gripe with Wested, I have that gripe with US Wings. I don`t want to go all into why but I say that here to say that I am somewhat biased....
The leather is FANTASTIC!!!!! I love this goatskin. The color and the grain is almost perfect. Alittle too thick for me but still....the problem is, I am left feeling like some of you here have said before about other jackets...I think a Raiders jacket out of this leather would be awesome!
I don`t know why (It could just be me being childish) but this jacket just looks and feels TO ME like a department store jacket that just happens to have the indiana jones pieces. A high quality department store but still, nevertheless, U S Wings just never really captures that Indiana Jones 'vibe' for me. It feels too baggy in the wrong places and just sits too much like a caricature of the Indy jacket in my eyes. Those armholes are just too big.
On the plus side, it is actually a very well made jacket, feels strong, feels comfy, Aside from the armholes, it fits just right (It is a size medium). It is alittle on the weighty side but not so much to feel like I am hefting a jacket around. I was planning on just selling it but there is a part of me that would love to see this jacket cold water formed and alittle distressed. The leather, again, is to die for.
I give it a reluctant thumbs up.

I couldn't agree more with Baldwyn regarding his statement we "all measure differently". I currently own 6 Indy jackets from three different vendors marked 4 different sizes but all measure in chest and sleeve length within 1/2 inch . The measurements do begin to differ on front and back length from one vendor to the other. I have two small's and two medium jackets from US Wings, a 42 from Wested w/ a few tweaks, and XL from Todd's Costumes. I have also owned or had in my possesion a Wested 40 regular and a Todd's Large and both were to short for me in sleeve length.

I am really confused about the comments regarding the "huge arm holes" on the US Wings jackets. I have compared them to all my other jackets and the only jacket that seems to have a smaller arm hole is Todd's jacket and it isn't a huge difference.

With all that being said my 30th Anniversary Legend Lamb skin, in a size Medium, is the best fitting jacket I have recieved from any vendor out of the box, the collar did need a little work out of box.

Re: Legend Goatskin!?

As has been discussed before in other threads, some of us are prone to "slim fitting" jackets while others need more room...ala _ and the like. And since USWings caters to the military, I would think their gear is geared more to the muscular military type without even knowing it. Now I am in no way "slim" (my growing Buddha belly will attest to that :D ) but all the Wings jacket I owned fit me like a Letterman's jacket. Again, the jocks as opposed to the geeks....the sleeves just seem to have a bigger circumferance...all the way down even to the wrist. It literally gives the impression of wearing a big guys jacket as opposed to a 'second skin' which is what I saw Indy's jacket in Raiders as. So if you are a muscular guy who is built as God intended, you won't really notice the difference.....but us smaller frames would be swimming in the same jacket. I hope this makes sense...it does in my own head.
Looking at my pics the jacket looks fine but the cut or pattern just gives too much extra material in the back shoulder/arm flab area than any other vendors jacket that I have owned. You can see it in the back pics but I will try to get specific pics when I figure out a good way to present my theory. IMO :TOH:

Baldwyn's right. It's not the jacket.
I just checked jacket again, and I did screw up on the measurements.
The chest on my size large was 24". Not 23" like in my previous post. My bad!

However, after a long trip in the washer (on hot) & dryer (on high heat)...... :twisted:

Canasta,

My Import Legend is made of the vintage cowhide.
I've been loosing weight and was thinking of getting one of these goatskins to replace it.
However, after much debate (and several beers) I decided to wash the cowhide and it worked out.

I would have still liked to get one of the goatskin jackets, but, I guess that ship has sailed.

Yeah, when Wings posts they have a limited number on hand, they're never kidding....and their website is seen 'round the world, and not just by us.

If you ever see something that peaks your curiousity at Wings, you best jump on it or they will disappear, many times never to be replaced in stock either.

Sounds like we must be pretty much the same size, Tex.

My XL Legend lambskin fits fine in the body, and the sleeves come down just past my wrist in more of a CS type length, but not bad.

Though I could wear a Large, the first one I ever tried was the buffalo Legend and it, too, was a bit snug.

I've ALWAYS been able to wear a large in any Wings offerings, but the Legend pattern is definitely one of those 'next size up' works best, at least for me.

I got my Legend goat last week, that was close, didn't think they would run out so fast. It's the best jacket I've ever had and I've had over a dozen of these Raiders type jackets. The different tones of brown on it is totally awesome. I was thinking of getting another one but will have to go for the lamb I guess.

Hard to believe they're not going to be making them anymore. Will they stop making Legends after the lamb version is gone too?

Very likely. That's the thing with Wings; they offer the widest range of leathers for their Indy jackets of any vendor I know of, but they come and go. I'm still hoping that they will work out the issues they had with the kangaroohide, and bring that one back.

I ordered mine monday I think.... just came in today. 30th, goat, large. Mine has some imperfections, a surface cut in the leather...didn't come with tags... I called USW to make sure it wasn't a returned item or something, they say it's not. I don't think the imperfections bother me, after all, I'm gonna beat it up. The fit is alright. I have a small waist, so it kind of lookss funn, especially in this picture. The collar is also quite large.
