Foam Tape?

Post by MyQuest »

Hi all! Does anyone know where you can purchase the foam tape that you use inside your sweatband?
I'm somewhat new here and cant seem to find any mention of where to buy it in my searching.
Any suggestions or pointing me in the right direction please!

Foam tape used for weather stripping does the trick. You should be able to find it at any good hardware store. You can also buy cheap felt at a craft store and cut it into strips if you only need a thin bit of padding.

The Fedora Store also sells self adhesive felt strips: http://www.thefedorastore.com/FedoraFel ... strips.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Although, something as simple as a paper towel could also work.

I would advise against the foam tape weatherstripping stuff. Its thick, and not very wide which causes the sweatband to buckle too much. I'd go with the felt or paper towel type of suggestions. You can custom cut each dimension and, at least in the case of paper towel, it's free! I have also used newspaper, although if you sweat a lot, it could leave marks on the sweat and/or liner.

Gotta agree with this, bud. Paper towel is best. I've tried the adhesive stuff and the foam can fall apart then you have to peel it off. Paper towel properly folded and inserted will stay put, and can be replaced so easily...and it is relatively FREE.

Thanks to everyone for the advise! I was wondering about the foam tape just so that it wouldn't move around in the sweatband. The one that came with my Federation fedora seemed good for it. I'm using the strips of felt in my AB now... its just that every once in while the strips seem to work their way out a little. That's why I was thinking of going with the foam.
Thanks again all.
