J Crew VS Alden 403/405

Post by image »

Are the J Crew 403/405s, made by Alden, exactly the same shoe (including the steel shank)? I've reviewed the pics and I still can't decide if they are the same. Also are the J Crew shoes 403s or 405s? Thanks

The heal shank and shape of the boot is the same its the stitching at the top and sides that are different.

Personally I favour the JCrew boot because of the heel stitching - it appears to look more period to me IMO

Anyone know where the J Crew boots are made? Does Alden still make them or is it just like a license thing?

Be careful which boots. Alden still makes and provides Jcrew with the "Jcrew version" of the 405. Jcrew also has their own line of boots which Alden doesn't make. Make sure you're looking at the right ones.

The JCrew Aldens are made by Aldens for JCrew.

To make it their own version - personally I like the heel stitch the way they had it done - it's not SA, but it looks better to me.
