Indy Gear for more formal occasions.

Post by maboot38 »

OK, so Indy's gear isn't exactly "semi-formal", but if it is good enough for a state dinner at Pankot Palace, it is good enough for my friend's wedding at a summer camp in Maine.

Here is the outfit:
Boots: Aldens
Pants: Todd's Raiders
Belt: J.C. Penny
Shirt: Wested
Tie: Magnoli
Jacket: Versini

The pants are truly magical. They look grey, pink, taupe.... Just due to different light.
But... Black belt with brown shoes! Mine eyes!!!

Lookin' truly dapper maboot! I was at a wedding earlier today but I didn't go with the Indy vibe. I should have, considering how nice you look.

It was with a heavy heart that I made this choice, but in the end I justified it for two reasons.

1) The tie is black, so in this case, the belt had a partner.
2)There was no way in #### my wife was letting me out the door in a tan web belt.

After #2, the choice of a black belt was pretty simple.

I wanted them a little loose so I bought a 38 inch waist. The length I can't say because I had them adjusted.

yep, I did the same. I got 38's for a lose fit but they are alittle long for my taste. I may have them adjusted.

the pants are the closest I have ever seen! when I look at the original pants Noel had they are SPOT on!! no difference. even the thinner wool that gives that drape.

Travis! get them already. best ever. you'l see.

Yeah, mine were a little long too. I got 32s but really needed a 31.
Travis, get these pants. There's no reason to hold out. They really are the real deal IMO. They fit great and feel great. You'll love 'em.

I kind of wish I could have preserved Todd's original hem, but they were really too long for me. I had to take a good chunk off.

They have the perfect fit for that era, low in the crotch with a bit of a baggy feel, but not unmanageable. Since the wedding was in a large summer camp main hall with a massive fire at one end, the wool was nice once the evening got cold. I'm very happy with their performance as "real world" pants.

Honestly don't know. I'll have to measure them. I'm somewhere between 5'10" and 5'11" so I usually have to buy 32s and get them taken in, so this is nothing new for me, except this time I wish I could have preserved the hem.

I can measure tonight for you if you'd like.

So its hard to say Holt, because the crotch of these pants are so low, but when I measure from middle of the crotch to the back of the hem it is about 28.5, so I'm seriously questioning that number as an accurate inseam. Any advice on how to measure these things properly to get an accurate length would be great.

That's a great outfit you put together, Maboot!
Cool to see how much IndyGear makes the grade for this kind of "more formal" look.

Thanks Fox! :)

Normally I wouldn't wear Aldens or the Indy shirt to anything like a wedding, as I do tend to get hung up on proper attire, but since the wedding was at a summer camp with a big fire and a roasted pig, I figured I'd "let my hair down" (really went too far with that, I'm afraid).
