Press studs on a FS Jacket

Post by Stefan Hills »

Has any one added a press stud to their FS jackets,

Yes, I know that would tamper with screen accuracy and all that jazz, but just wondering if anyone has do so for the sake of function rather than anything else.

Kind regards,
Stefan

I added a snap to the bottom of mine just this winter. Helped immensely by taking strain off the bottom of the zipper when climbing in and out of my old car. (Ok now, no 'big gut' jokes :? ) Regards. Michaelson

Funny how an old rap song from back in my day just popped into my head.

For your sake, I'll refrain from typing it out.

That song has NOTHING to do with the added snap (not that part of the body....at least not to MY knowledge! ) :D Regards. Michaelson

 my bad... I just re-read and noticed I mis-read your post before. Though you've gotten the ultimate revenge as that song's been stuck in my head since and I've been naming different people in the office with them.

... "Say what?!"

Well I have taken the plunge and added the press studs to my Lamb FS, I decided that since the zipper was brass, I would use brass press studs but the dull kind. I will be getting the jacket back from the leather store tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Well, speaking for myself, I've had them done before at a local shoe repair shop. They have the snaps and tools to do this as they have to install snaps in repair of other leather wear. The last one I had installed (on my FS) was done by my youngest daughter, who occasionally makes custom leather gear for folks. Regards. Michaelson

Well for me I had it also done at an alteration shop at the local mall. There is too many leather specialists in the area, and the one which I usually went is too far now since I moved house.
After dropping the jacket, I went to Michael's Craft Store and there was a packet with brass and nickle press studs with all the necessary tools in a set for $8.00.

Kind regards,
Stefan

You can find them in the craft section of Wal-mart for a LOT less. Regards. Michaelson
