Idea... Thoughts

Post by riku1914 »

Ok so I've got an idea that I think might benefit me, tell me what you guys think.

I think I'm planning on buying an 8' 16 plait, black classic american style whip from Midwest.

My reasoning? To have something to compare my own work to, and to have something to shoot for.

What do you guys think? I'd save up the profit from my next few whips in order to get this, but I think it would be a good idea.

Always good to have a yardstick! For a long time, mine was a beautiful '92 Morgan 10footer.

I remember that whip! Gorgeous whip!!!

I think it is a good idea, Jeremy. I usually compare my whips to my Strains, Morgans, and a Ben Scott I have.

Good idea Riku. Are you going with standard 8" handle?

More than likely. I'll have everything on mine what Paul does as standard. I'll have to sell four or five whips to save enough for it,

as I'm only making $50-$150 a whip right now, depending on length-plaitcount etc.

I think it's a great idea. Just having it in your hands will tell you a lot.

When I was first learning, I went and spent $300 (a lot back then) on a Strain, and proceeded to completely dissect it so I could see the insides.
It was somewhat painful!

I don't want to see the insides, I want to have something to compare to how it cracks. I know what's on the inside
