Great hat!

I'd pull the front of the brim down a touch more, since the Skull has a little more shape to it that the Raiders, but it's spot on and looks great as is...

I love the Crystal Skull shape....It's quite clear what Steve and Marc did and why they did it..Enough heritage/history to remind us of Raiders while also staying "current" to the Last Crusade version...Lovely bit of work from them in getting that passed with the production team..And John's version is always going to be one #### of a good hat..

Great stuff! :TOH:

My feelings exactly! I know I'm going to order one of these sooner or later. But, I have three, (yes, three!) hats already on order from John right now. Gotta be a good boy and wait. [-X

But seriously, I love the lid, you look great in it, and John has done a masterful job, as usual!

Wow 3 Penmans on order?!? I am jealous. I love John's hats... and this is the first time in like 2 years that I haven't had a hat on order with him. It's really starting to bug me. I have a couple of hats I want from him but my money is needed elsewhere right now. Hopefully by the end of this year I can place an order for that sahara fedora that I want.

Yeah, the money's the problem, isn't it? I can think of at least 3 or 4 hats I'd love to get, but...

Soooo... anyone got any good tips on winning the lottery? ;)

It's funny you guys are mentioning this... It was just the other day that I was telling my wife "y'know, if I were to win big in the lottery, it would be obscene how much money I would be sending to Penman and Magnoli!" ;)

(Hey John, when you're not busy rooting for yourself, root a little for ME, wouldya? Trust me, it'd end up benefitting YOU quite nicely!)

Just wanted to post a recent photo of my Penman CS Train traveler fedora from our anniversary to show how well this color also goes with navy:

Looking great, Nebraska! I love this photo! (And Happy Birthday, btw!)

But seriously, when I first saw this, I almost thought I was looking at a picture of myself and my wife from our honeymoon!

Daren, I just noticed this response--how interesting! :o For your wedding's honeymoon and my wife's and my wedding anniversary, we wore very similar outfits: granite Penman fedoras, navy jackets with red ties, and our wives' dresses are even somewhat similar colors! I also like your 2 new Penmans--very nice!

jnicktem, that's a great looking Raiders there.

First, Nebraska and Daren, those hats look great with your suits! You and your wives look like you just stepped out of Rick's Café Américain in Casablanca. :TOH:

Second, Jnictem, very cool location in your pics! ;)

And finally, I just ordered my first Penman!!! :D I went with a Raiders in beaver! \:D/

Well today was a day that I never saw coming! I have been drooling over a certain fedora that I have been wanting for quite some time now, a Penman beaver in Sahara styled as a CS, but with Raiders brim dimensions. The only thing that was keeping me from ordering it is I have been trying to put away some money for a wedding, and I already have numerous hats. But today I got PERMISSION from my lovely fiancee to go ahead and order it! So I did! Happy New Years to me!!! :D

Okaaaaay...Where to begin?

..............Maybe with picking my jaw back up off the floor would be a good start eh? :rolling:

John's hat just arrived...And I've spent the last hour alternately looking at it, laughing, looking closer at it, and taking photos for all of you here...

First of all, John, THANK YOU :notworthy: :notworthy:

This hat is a pleasure to wear. Superbly made, lovely to fit, and what's better is it gets better the closer I look at it...(Plenty of that to come I'm sure..)..

Amazing quality..Very, very impressive craftmanship Sir.. I'll be back to order from you in no time at all...No doubt there...

Now, the photos....

Straight outta the box..
Image

The box opened..(This was the point I managed to stop drooling..Lucky all in all.. ;)
Image

The hat itself....
Image

And lastly...Me looking WELL smug. ;)

Thank you John, it was a REAL pleasure to order from you, and I look forward to doing so again Sir.

Warmest regards.

Heya mate...

I'm already working out a way to get enough free cash to afford another order...You get one, see how good they are, and immediately start working out ways to change design enough to make another order "reasonable"....I love this hat.

I think my next will have to be the yellow Dick Tracy....I've got my eyes on that baby....

We'll see....My girlfriend needs a LOT of talking to to let me buy a bright yellow hat...But she'll see sense when it arrives...I reckon...

Maybe...

Thanks for the compliments mate..He's a #### of a hatmaker. :TOH:

Ian, yeah, I reckon the Dick Tracy would be ballsy...But, if you could pull it off you'd never be forgotten in your neighbourhood eh? :TOH: (And I reckon a black jacket and a yellow tie would work at minimal... No need for a bright yellow jacket straight off eh?) ;)

.........I love the Fast Show....Mainly for "you ain't seen me....Right?" ;)

Fox, dude...This hat is soooooo cool...(I had originally asked John for one like your own..The grey Raiders style..Since you looked so good in it..But I knew I looked okay in a Crystal Skull hat, so ended up going with that instead!).. Thanks for the comments here and on FB! :TOH:

And Travis...Yeah...John really did make it perfectly for me...Not luck per se, but I do feel lucky...

Regards all.. :TOH:

Hehe....John...The hatbox is as great to see as the hat...Really well made and an addition that makes your hats (or the delivery of them) a lot more than just a hat....In my opinion...The whole fit of the thing shows the love that goes into them...

Thank the people that make them from me could you? They deserve a mention here as well...

Regards.

Looking at my LC Penman again now, i remember i put a little more curl on the sides of the brim...Not to much, just a little more so it resembles something inbetween the Venice pier scenes and the action scenes later in the movie :)

From what I've read of Steve's posts about the size of the hats he and Marc made for Crystal Skull mine is the same size...John would be the man to ask about that for sure, but from the dimensions I've checked on mine, and those mentioned by Steve here the hat is (Roughly) the same size (I didn't ask for any dimension changes either, so the only change was the hat size...Since I'm a 23 1/2)...

I'd say no..No change to the dimensions.. :TOH:

(Having checked with what Steve mentioned here; http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f ... stal+Skull" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .....Mine is spot on with those dimensions..So no..No change in the dimensions..Only a size change..)

Travis...I don't think anyone else in my family would appreciate them as much as yourself, so I'd have no problem agreeing to that...When I write a Will I'll add your name for the hat collection :TOH: (Of course, in reverse, I think I saw a rather amazing Wolverine Jacket on you a while back, and "god forbid", but....If it comes to that? ;) I'd love it like my own son.. :P )

Hey John, thanks for the confirmation Sir.

I'll be able to wear it in about a week or so if the current temperatures keep heading the way they are..It's almost under 30 degrees EVERY day!! (It's the humidity that kills me though...And it's still humid here...)..I'll post pics here and to Facebook of me wearing the beauty in somewhere VERY Japanese..(A Maid Cafe, or an Anime shop...Akihabara..Or Shibuya I was thinking....Fuji-san can be seen from my house, but in a photo would probably be too small to make decent background...)..

Regards..
