And believe me, he's hardly delighted about the situation.
In short, I found him very helpful and he took time out from a busy and stressfull time to chat to us. I feel for all the guys waiting on this but I believe it'll be worth the wait for you all.

Wow that is really a shame cause I was looking forward to the Shrunken Lamb, oh well, I figured something must have happened cause its been weeks and had not heard much from Peter on here lately. Oh well there is other great hides to choose from in regards to a Hero jacket. The crispe looks interesting, not sure to go with that or something else. Hopefully Peter maybe in the future could source out some Shrunken Lamb.

Croft,
I ordered my jacket on a Sunday evening and it showed up at my place of employment on the next following Friday morning. I thought it would take at least a couple of weeks, but I got it in 11 days to Florida. Pics may be a while as i do not have a digital camera set up to my computer yet. I will try and work on that soon as I have lots of gear that I've yet to post pics of.

Sorry, I take that back. I ordered on July 31 and it got here on Friday, Aug.5, so it was only 5 days. Wow, I was so excited, I guess, that I didn't realize it was so short a time. So there,...5 days!

jlhampton wrote:I just got my seal brown lamb and it was everything i had expected it to be. The color is very close to my old (2005) dark brown lamb. I don't know why anyone would want anything darker. The new seal brown is just a tad darker than the old authentic brown swatch Wested sent me years ago. I also asked for the thinnest skin they could give me and believe me, it's pretty thin. This jacket drapes very nicely. Now, I'm just treating it lightly with some water and manipulating the leather. I really loved how Gorak's came out so I'm giving it the same treatment and it's coming out very well.

Can you please post some pics in daylight? I'm very interested in this colour. Also I would like to see a comparative pic with auth brown and seal brown. Thanks for any help! :TOH:

Just received my dark brown lamb HERO.

Peter did a marvelous job, I must say.

It's even more SA than my custom Wested.

Also, I want to thank Holt for his contributions to this HERO pattern.

Well done indeed.

fateoftheduck wrote:yes, I have - there are pics showing the skin above. I'll post some of the jacket being worn when I get the chance.

The skin is better than the picture on the order page suggests - less shiny and more textured. It feels thin and light but tough at the same time.
Ah sorry, missed that.
Can you take some full jacket photos in daylight? I would love to see it in full frame. And if possible compared to something else.

It's a great jacket.

I really like it.

Perhaps I'll order another one, but first I need to know 100% certain if the standard HERO can be ordered in authentic lamb.

I only see options for Seal Brown lamb and Dark Brown lamb right now.

Pics will follow soon.

Just received my 2nd Hero, this time in seal brown lamb. It's fantastic! Slightly darker than the authentic brown, but not quite as dark as the dark brown. It's quite a bit darker than the Crispe seal brown. I'd really recommend the seal brown lamb choice! I'll see if I can post a pic with the Crispe and a Todd's for reference.

I agree wholeheartedly about the seal brown lamb. Back in '05 when i got my first Wested, I opted for the dark brown lamb because it represented what i thought at the time was the most S.A. shade from many scenes, however, not all of them. Now, don't get me wrong, I do like the dark lamb, but I also think that this new seal brown covers a more wide spectrum of a S.A. shade. It's lighter than the dark brown and it's still a dark brown at the same time. I can see how under different lighting conditions the authentic brown of old could be seen as almost black, like the dark brown lamb. I apologize for not being able to post any pics at this time, but i think back a few pages at Gorak's pics and his jacket represents what i see in person with this leather. That's why i bought it. I loved the cut and... the color.

All right gents, here are some comparisons of the leather for you:
from left to right... Hero in seal brown crispe; Hero in seal brown lamb; ROLA in dark brown lamb; Todd's Bantu Wind.
Image

same order:
Image

The seal brown crispe and lamb are quite different shades, as you can see. The lamb is really spot on for the screen color, I just need to apply the "Gorak touch" and pull some grain out. (I may just wear it in the weather and do it the old fashioned way, though).

You know, if Todd would make customs out of THIS leather, I'd be right there. Just can't get a fit to work for me. I know what you mean, though. Great texture and color. The Wested seal brown is VERY close to the same color. In person you can debate which hits the mark depending on your favorite scene.

In my opinion, the Crispe is too light in color for an Indy jacket. It looks so off compared to the other jackets in the above photo. The color looks like one of those russet brown A2 jackets.

It's definitely darker than russet in person. My Goodwear russet A-2 is much lighter. But to be clear, I agree that if you want to be really screen accurate in color, I'd go with the seal brown lamb or goat. The Crispe is a great jacket and quite a bit heavier than the seal brown lamb. Should be a perfect jacket for layers in the fall and winter.

Received my goat Hero today!

I'm very impressed.....Looks, feels, fits, and even smells awesome!

It's a little shiny (being that it's so new) but the grain and characterizations are excellent! It's lightweight (and drapes fantastic) but the goatskin feels tough as nails. Workmanship is also excellent. Amazing jacket!

I was somewhat skeptical at first but after finally getting my hands on this Hero jacket, I gotta say, out of many Wested's I've owned over the last several years, this is by far, the BEST Wested jacket I've received!

Great job, Peter!

(As soon as the SL becomes available again, I'm definately picking that one up, too!)

Pics will follow....

Mine got delivered today!!

In the car now, wearing it. Will upload some pics later on tonight. We are headed to the beach so should have some nice backdrops!

First impressions:

1. It's a little big in the body. I ordered a 44, as I, across the board, wear a 44L suit (and, unfortunately, wear a suit M-F). The Wested 44 feels a bit big. It's not the "slim fit" I was expecting AT ALL.

2. Thanks to you guys, and Peter and Genma, we nailed the sleeve and back length. Perfect. I'm glad I accounted for the off the shoulder fit and adjusted the sleeve length accordingly. 26" sleeves and back length fit this 44L guy perfectly.

3. It's so THIN!! I ordered the authentic brown lamb in the thinnest, lightest skin they had, and they came through. I have the "disco windbreaker" thing going on. Looks cool.

4. Love the label.

5. Love the aluminum zip.

6. Storm flap looks a little wide to my eyes.

7. Look at the size o' that collar!!

8. I know the COA is a cheesy marketing gimmick, but call me cheesy, I think it's a nice touch. Thanks Peter!

9. Wested was a pleasure to deal with. Gemma was patient and professional, and I genuinely appreciated what I felt was excellent and personalized service.

That's all. Pics when I can. Can you upload pics to the board from an iPhone?

Sean

First, I want to say that I love my hero jacket, but did anyone else get theirs with a typical Wested label and not the Leather Concessionaires label? This is no big deal for me. I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this.

Very very nice. Now put it on......do you plan on wet molding it at all? I know its not for everyone but I did it to all my jackets and it makes a world of difference in terms of grain pop and as to how it actually fits your individual body frame. Some I throw in the washing machine but on the ones that are questionable on quality, I just use a spray bottle and walk around outdoors in the sun for abit. Hot? alittle but well worth it in the end. And it is nothing more than Indy himself was feeling when chasing the truck in Cairo....

Authentic Brown Lamb HERO vs Dark Brown Lamb HERO:

Both carry the Leather Concessionaires label.

Removed the silly Union Jack and the small white label, though.

The Dark Brown Lamb already got some rain and sun, the Authentic Brown Lamb is brand new.

As you can see, the Authentic Brown Lamb is shorter (24" back length, instead of 25.5").

My second Hero, in Seal Brown Lamb had the Wested label. I wrote to Gemma and she is sending me a Leather Concessionaires label in the post. I have a local tailer here who can swap that in. She was very nice about it.

Sorry for the delay.

My Hero came on Monday and here it is Thursday and I just this AM got to take pics.

But first, a big thank you to Gorak, for if it wasn't for your pic's and thoughts on this jacket I might have not pulled the trigger :notworthy: , but man am I sooooo glad I did.

In a word. Perfect. Perfect color, Perfect fit, perfect sleeves (finally) Perfect weight, and last but not least, just plain Perfect. Mesah happy. \:D/
As soon as I put it on and saw how well it fit, out came the spary bottle, it needed some carachter. Balled it up and left over night. Wore it every chance I got.
Asked for light weight and it is, Dark brown lambskin, a shade lighter than my Todds. Size 40 w/23"sleeves, I sent pics of me wearing my Todds to Gemma and she showed them to Peter who must have taken the 23" and subtracted about 3/4 of an inch, which resulted in perfection (my Todds is just a tad short), 23" back panel.
Here're the pic's. And for anyine thinking about, do it.

DUDE, THAT IS FREAKING AWESOME LOOKING ON YOU!!!!! Wow!

I am so impressed with how great it looks on you. I thought the pics of you in other jackets were impressive but these just trumped all the pics even the ones on this thread of everyone elses....bravo, man..

looks so smooth with the entire outfit but one can already see it becoming one with you. I couldn't decide which pic I liked best as they all wowed me as they opened up on my computer. The rest of your gear deserves its own praise but I will stick to thejacket right now...
color looks great..fit looks great...PERFECT!
what are your thoughts on what makes it different? I find the wider opening in the colar makes it sit "cooler" kinda like Fonzies jacket. And the slimmer fit really gives it a "second skin" appeal. But enough about me, my star has shown, I want to know what you think...
Seriously, my friend, that is a great looking jacket and I am so glad it came out to your liking. It seriously makes me want another...
