"Mystery" Wested Jacket, any info?

Post by Mr_Vader »

Hi everyone, this is my first post so bear with me.

I've recently picked up a Wested Raiders jacket from a member on the rpf. He told me it was a "limited edition," washed lamb jacket that he picked up here about three years ago. Its really soft leather, and already has some wear to it that looks great, but it didn't come with a COA and I can't seem to find any solid information on it. Here's some photos of the jacket:

Any information would be great! Thanks!

the COA doesn't really hold water, so no need for it.

the limited edition is because it is made from washed thin lambskin.

other then this it looks to be a standard raiders model

Yeah, nothing that really stands out on it, but it's still a gorgeous jacket. Wear it with pride, my man!

It's flashback off the cotton from the camera.

I've seen the same coloration of all cotton Wested linings I've owned over the years in bright light as well!

Thanks guys!

Any ideas on how many the "limited edition" rounded out to? Was it actually more expensive when it was sold?

The lining has a little purple in it, but the iPhone camera definitely took some liberties it seems with color.

Not sure. The 'limited' part can be confusing.

Anytime a small batch of a particular leather is sourced, it becomes 'limited.

I remember the first 'lambtouch' cowhide was introduced as being a 'limited edition' back in 2001/2002.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that term. It's more generic in regards to your jacket and not a 'special run' per se.

Not trying to be a wet blanket. =;

It's a nice jacket. Enjoy it!

Not at all, I just like alot of information when i give me tours around the collection room :)

I grabbed the jacket for a good price, and the fact that it had that lived in look, but the LE was a "added bonus," but no worries, I'll keep it forever and ever. It does actually fit quite nicely, but it will be for display 90% of the time, along with my Adventurebilt Indy :)

Based on the photos you posted, it looks like the guy was cutting straight with you. The three year time frame is on, about the time of CS, if not just after. The discoloration is due to the acid wash. Not a bad looking skin.

There are a few threads out there on washed lamb:

Thanks for the info everyone, and thanks for the link, as a newb I can't use the search function, it takes away from me introducing myself

Looks like I did OK with my first jacket going into it blindly. I'd researched the jackets for a few months when I was going to go for a custom but the money never seemed to be free'd up, with this one all the starts aligned.

Thanks again everyone, I look forward to asking repetivite questions again as I continue the collection. The next on my list is the MKVII, then the whip
