Mike Murphy Indy Whip Kit

Post by Jon E »

I see that Mike Murphy is selling Roo Hide 8 ft Indy Kits. His web site states natural or black, however, I understand that he will do it in other colors. I did make the stock whip kit some years ago(sucessfully I may add) O:) , and I am very close to going for it and getting one.

It would be great to own a whip that you had a hand in putting together.

Anyone had one already?

Regards to all Jon :H:

I haven't gotten his kit specifically, but what i've seen about it, if you don't have the resources ( or time ) to cut and pare and

split your leather, or even get the leather for that matter, I'd get it. A while ago before I got the guts to slice on a hide I even

considered buying that.

Supposedly it comes with EVERYTHING you need, except for something like a knife that is a simple household item. So, if you want

to get an indy whip, and you can plait correctly and tight enough ( you mus plait VERYYYYYYY tight ) then I'd say go for it.

I think if you like making your own things, you would like doing this. I find making whips very enjoyable :TOH:

Thanks for the reply. I get the message re the tight plaiting. I have been watching a number of videos on You Tube about plaiting, which I know will help. I am ordering the kit today, so wish me luck [-o<

Good Luck, Jon E!

Keep us posted on your progress. I am very curious how it turns out and your overall impression of the kit.
