Watching KOTCS again tonight
And I just want to say, as reprehensible as I find the flying monkeys, (I hope this doesn't get sensored) that's a #### fine hat Steve!

Agreed. The BEST thing about that movie was Steve's hats!

I don't really care what anybody says, I loved the $#!t out of KOTCS. I found it to be a highly entertaining and thrilling movie. I loved the subject matter and seeing Indy on the big screen for the first time in my life was super amazing! Does the movie have faults? Absolutely, but I can seem to overlook the most of the ones that most people can't. I feel sorry for people who didn't enjoy it because I think they were the people who had the most expectations of the film. It was never going to live up to the expectations that people had for it.

Besides they all have their over the top elements.

Let's not forget about Marc's contributions!
Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
I also loved the film. It's my third favorite in the series.

Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
I watched it again last night. Great hat.......#### TERRIBLE movie. I was embarassed to be watching it. It was just poorly done. So much silliness...Ox babbling until the end in the interdimensional spaceship, the ants that can carry a man, pretty much everything Shia.......what a poor movie.
I somewhat liked it in the theater, but once the novelty of seeing Indy again wore off....it really is a horrible movie. Kind of like Transformers. Just a bunch of mush.
Great hat though. Jacket looks good too.

I'm more of an LC jacket guy, so I liked Tony's interpretation.Hollowpond wrote:I disagree with you Boot!

Heck, they should have let Tony write the story too....couldn't have hurt.

The more I watch CS the more I like it. After doing an Indy marathon for the 30th I felt that it was a pretty good (no, not the best) addition to the series.

Oh, I certainly think Tony did what they wanted. I also dig the lc, I just didn't care for the predistressed look...maboot38 wrote:I'm more of an LC jacket guy, so I liked Tony's interpretation.Hollowpond wrote:I disagree with you Boot!

Ironically, I think what KC was missing in general was a "predistressed look". That's probably why the jacket stood out.Hollowpond wrote:Oh, I certainly think Tony did what they wanted. Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
I agree, if you watch all the movies back-to-back, CS actually segues in pretty nicely. I still find a lot of Koepp's dialogue pretty clunky, though. A lot of the stuff Indy says in CS doesn't sound like the kind of stuff the Indy of old would say.afterthedog wrote:The more I watch CS the more I like it. To stay on topic, I think the CS fedora is the best-looking of all of Indy's hats.
Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
Actually, the topic of this thread is:
Watching KOTCS again tonight
So it is pretty hard to get off topic! I could go on and on about how I literally got ANGRY watching that movie again last night, and don't remember being that disgusted the first time I watched it, so for me, it seems to be getting worse.
However, the first post did also mention the hat, with which I have to agree, it is gorgeous.

Well I'm no genius, but maybe you should just refrain from watching it ever again in case you do yourself of something else some damage.

Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
It really took me by surprise because I thought I'd at least be able to tolerate it, but it seems that it just gets worse. Hey, nobody said you can't like a bad movie if you want. Heck, Tron was a disaster but has a huge following. I even surprised myself how bad I found it to be this time around. I don't know, maybe it was because of the commercials.....irishjones wrote:maboot38 wrote:I literally got ANGRY watching that movie again last night, and don't remember being that disgusted the first time I watched it, so for me, it seems to be getting worse.

Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
Maboot I totally sympathize with you. I more or less hate the movie save for AB's hat which is becoming my favorite, (aside from Raiders for nostalgic reasons) and Tony's jacket. But other than that I found the film to fall flat, however I recently discovered a website for fanedits and the crystal skull fanedit made vast improvements, including some color correction. Still not a great film, but I can watch and enjoy the film now. For those who hated it, you may check out the fanedit of the picture, you might find you can enjoy it. Still, if I can ever save the money and Steve hasn't retired a CS Indy fedora will be mine!

That makes 2 of us: I actually had Steve re-block mine like that one (as you can see in my avatar/profile pic).jlee562 wrote:I really like the jungle chase hat....it's the shorter crowned one like I ordered from Steve.
Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
I liked the entire costume used in Indy IV. It really showed a more seasoned and mature character while still capturing the general essence. I especially think the styling of the hat captured the sensibility of a more mature Dr Jones.
I have never understood the outright hatred for the 4th Indy flick. I'll grant you it has it's weak points but on the whole I liked it much better than Last Crusade, the weakest film in the series for my taste. Ultimately I think it had just been too long between films so the expectations were too high. Another factor is people tend to look at the other films from the nostalgic viewpoint of the time they saw them and I suspect many who grew up with Indy are remembering the joy of watching the films with a youthful suspension of disbelief that they simply were unable to recapture.
The beauty of the whole Indiana Jones phenomenon is that it is a characture of reality. A fantasy of the tall tell cut down to a slightly smaller size. It's the dichotomy of the book smart professor and the swashbuckling man of action that I find most interesting and KOTCS seemed to capture this better than any of the other sequels. I also think they added some really nice continuity to the entire series by acknowedgling the passage of time and giving us some insight into how Indy progressed into a new decade.

Re: Watching KOTCS again tonight
My friend, I agree with almost everything you said in this post. The only thing I don't agree with is that LC is the weakest film. I know that's just your opinion, but everybody's entitled to that. LC is actually my favourite Indy film.gladd96 wrote:I liked the entire costume used in Indy IV. It really showed a more seasoned and mature character while still capturing the general essence.
