there were more LC jackets used the just one and all came with different shaped flaps and to me, when looking at this LC jacket, they really remind me of these new raiders flaps.

Does anyone know how to order this pattern in a different skin than what is being offered short of calling?
I wonder if I just order a custom job but request the Hero Pattern in the notes section notes would work? They emailed me to confirm my notes for my last Wested so I assume they do look at them.
The only way to be sure would be to ring Peter on Saturday morning GMT and speak directly to the man himself.

Hey there :TOH:

Just emailed Peter and asked if the jacket is indeed available in other leathers and if this would effect the cost. Also whether if this is a limited run for the Raiders Anniversary... in which case i'll have to get my finger out and order one!

I'll post the results for you guys when i have them

That is a awesome looking jacket! :D I've been wanting a new Wested for quite a while now. Maybe I held out for just the right amount of time...so they create a beauty like this. I'd like to see more pics of the Hero jacket in the other leather offerings.

Hmmm....not sure I like the 'Crispe'. Looks too grainy, but maybe it would look better in the finished product. It'd be interesting to see at least.

Well, I ordered their LC/CS Pre-Distressed Hide jacket on Tuesday and received it on Thursday. But then again, I live in Northern Ireland, so maybe that's a factor that worked to my advantage.

Looks like Wested is now offering the Hero in "standard" and "special". Standard is available up to size 48 in seal brown washed goat, seal brown lamb, dark brown lamb and predistressed hide.

Anybody know what the seal brown washed goat looks like?

I've a quick question.
Measurments on Wested site for......
#1) Sleeve: is this from the shoulder down to cuff.
#2) Back length: is this from the collar stand or from the seam that runs side to side (which lines up with the yoke)

And has any one seen seal brown washed goat, is this a light weight, pre broken in but not disstressed look.
Just curious.

yes, shoudler seam to cuff.

backlenght from bottom of mid portion of the collarstand.

washed seal brown goat is pretty much the regular washed goat.

Not sure what it looks like, but seal brown is a VERY dark brown if I'm not mistaken, correct?

Interesting, I emailed wested a few days ago and asked if they had washed goat available for a custom order, gemma replied back that it wasn't available. Maybe it only for their hero jackets?

Well, I just ordered the Hero Jacket in Shrunken Lamb! \:D/ I have my fingers (and toes) crossed!

Has anyone here got theirs yet?

From the photos, the hide looks similar to my USW Legend Striated Lamb, which has quickly become one of my favorites.

God I hope Wested delivers! [-o<

Now that's thrown the cat amongst the pigeons... Do i go for the lamb or the goat? :-k ...

Which offers comfort in different temperatures and which offers best durability?

Got to get my finger out and order one of these beauts!

Advice and opinions greatly received :TOH:

I have one on order that is currently in "dispatched" mode. I already have a dark lambskin so, when I ordered, my only options at the time were the new skins, dark lambskin, and authentic lamb, so I went with authentic lamb to have alittle difference BUT I specified to Gemma several times that I wanted them to use the thinnest, most lightweight leather available. She confirmed my request twice so I am really hoping for the best. I know the authentic lamb isn`t at the top of everyones list but, like I said, I wanted something alittle different in color..I layed out my 5 and they are basically all the same color except for the Todd`s cow (which I love the color) and the Wested Washed Goat(which I love the grain). I will definitely post pics as events unfold...literally unfold!

You should be very happy with the thin lambskin. :TOH:

Just as a piece of advice, be VERY mindful of the jacket when you're wearing it, as they are prone to snag on things and will tear a LOT easier than other leathers.

We've had more posts by folks over the past 10+ years who have snagged themselves on gates, fences and car doors than I can recall, and it's just due to the 'clingy' nature of the lightweight lambskin.

If there's a way it can snare itself on something, it will find it. ;)

Strones,

To me, it looks like Crispe. Take a look at the collar. I was told one time that this type of feature is leather taken from the underbelly of lamb. Doesn't look like shrunken lamb, as SL would have lots of texture to the hide. This one appears to be smoother than the SL, jmo.

This one I'd say is SL:

Yes you're right about the collar. But the jacket looks not so "dino" as in the sample leather pic on the site. I don't know. :-k

I see what you mean, now:

http://www.wested.com/standard-indy-her ... -505-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I believe that the close-up of the collar is SL and the full shot, as you posted it is Crispe.

Leather mis-match, but it does appear to display the two different types of leather that was offered initially. Notice the texture of the collar and color of the two appear to be different, slightly.

Just what exactly is the difference between "Crispe" lambskin and "shrunken lamb?"

Is the difference only in the grain?

Hi :TOH:

Its confusing to say the least as this photo is taken from the "Standard" Hero jacket page and not the " Special" Hero page.

The Standard doesn't have the shrunken or crispe as leather options. Just seal brown or dark brown lamb, seal brown washed goat(new) and pre distressed hide.

As an aside, which of these would be the better option guys?

I would like to see the seal brown lamb: hope the color is better than the auth. lamb.

Hi Folks
Sorry for the confusion
As you may have noticed I am no longer doing the photos. Is it that obvious?
However my Grandaughter Rebecca may be good but knows didly xxxx about Raiders.
So that jpeg IS 'Crispe' lambskin and should be in the Special Hero Jacket
Jpegs of the hero in Standard skins will be posted as the jackets are made.
The new 'washed' goat has been renamed as it is not as before.
The goatskin has been chrome tanned so it is water repellant unlike veg tanned which absorbs water
It has been washed but that has only taken the gloss out of the leather leaving a slightly mat
finished finish soft but quite meaty at .9 -1 mm. Ideal for bikers as it is very durable.
I will keep popping in from time to time to correct any misconcerptions or queries :CR:
Cheers

Basically similar but a slight shade darker and more durable.
Called lambskin as that is the terminology but really full grown sheep so a little tougher.

Okay..really busy right now...gotta close down the school but here are the first quick pics...

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... 175530.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Right out of the bag....very first impression as I had never seen Authentic Lamb color...not exciting. Its nice but no WOW factor. Laying in the seat next to me I then saw crinkles that showed me this will look really nice after some breaking in. Put in on...first impression? WOW, I LOVE IT!!!

Very lightweight. Just like I requested...great fit, very comfortable. Love the higher armholes. Ordered last week on Tuesday, recieved it today. All thru E-mails. Only requested most light weight Authentic Lamb.
It is getting late so I will take more pics tomorrow and a better review but right now, it`s a winner to me. I know people have had "issues" with Wested sometimes but I have been blessed to have had some great products from them. All three of my Wested jackets are awesome to me and I love them. This one is definitely a winner!!!!!
I`m hurrying cuz I`m just trying to be the first to post pics so, like I said, more later after I calm down...enjoy.. It's that "crack" that _ is threading about. :D :D

Thanks...I am really happy with this new jacket. I know the Authentic Lamb is not too popular with alot of folks but my main issue was weight and as I already have a dark lambskin and goat, I wanted something new. I'm real happy with it. I'm hoping the bigger issues with pics will lean more towards Wested's new pattern and design as I am sure our feelings on skins is all over the boards.

This jacket looks really promising. I'm seriously considering to upgrade my current wested custom jacket for the new Hero jacket.
I really dig the washed soft goat. Very nice dark color.
I wonder if wested are open next week, as I'll be driving to the UK. Then I can bring my current one, and it's measurements as orderd, and have the new one made according to that, with a few minor adjustments. Could be the perfect jacket for me :o

Thanks bunches guys...one day only but I am so loving this jacket! If I have to play Devil`s Advocate my only thorn would be that the yoke in the middle measures 6 inches and I like the thinner yoke that my Washed Goat has. I have started training the collar and today I will start the cold water wash and wear. Already, with the small water I am spraying on the collar area with a water bottle, the shoulders are graining up so sweet.

Tomek- I know specifically the issues you have had with Wested sizing....This is a size 38. It fits very snug in the armpits..full arm length...front shoulder area. I will get some specific measurements for you before I wet it and PM you the details.

The real difference that I personally feel between this jacket and the others I own is that it does exactly what my old Todd`s does..it seems to be more open in the front. More chest is exposed and that is a big part of the look I feel. My US Wings and even my Expo just felt like they had too much leather in the front chest area..it could just be me but I think that this particular pattern (which is similiar to the way Todd`s are) there is less leather in the front panels chest area or something that just begs for the bag strap and shirt pleats to shine thru.
More pics soon...
