Expedition in both skins
here are some photos of my Expeditions in both goat and lamb, my chest measures 40 around and the jackets are both size 44r, I may also try a 42r in the fall but I suspect it may get a bit snug around the shoulders?? I think both jackets may be a bit large on me, I will let you be the judge

In person the two Jackets have a very different feel and look. The drape is different also. I will try to post a few more pics a bit later to illustrate

Tundra, I was about to say the same thing, so many people order down a size. I'm debating what size to get myself, I think I may go with my standard size.

Damian, looking forward to your elaborations on this. Their website doesn't have very good pictures.damian della morte wrote:In person the two Jackets have a very different feel and look. The drape is different also. I will try to post a few more pics a bit later to illustrate

Are you starting to like one more than the other yet?
Re: Expedition in both skins
Hey... Does that mean both your jackets are 2 sizes larger? They both fit perfectly... And judging by the measurements I've seen on other's jackets these were quite generous... Ahhh! I'm confused!

Re: Expedition in both skins
I too have the lamb and goathide jacket in a 44R, and I think it just depends on what type of skin you prefer. Don't be fooled by the action of the leather when it is brand new. Goathide just takes a little longer to break in. Of course it depends on intended use, as to which you would wear more, but both jackets are made with the same quality construction, etc. You just couldn't walk through thorns with lamb-rough house (as much) with lamb as you can goat. I've come to appreciate the texture and grain of goathide as time has passed well.

I like the texture and the drape of the lamb, but I think the goat's as tuff as a nickle steak, i don't have to worry about ripping it on a shelf or something like that

I'm going to try a 42r in the fall, i like a tight fit but my shoulders are i little broad for my size, i know when i hold both my arms out in these jacckets it's close yet these two jackets seem a bit roomy on me

Re: Expedition in both skins
Considering the Wings Legend is closer to a 42R in sizing, that's right in comparison to a G&B 44R.
I know. I wear a 44R as well, and the Large Wings Legend was a tad too tight for me. The Legend is considered more of a 'military' cut, where the Expedition is not.

yes, or a 42L? the sleeves are longer on the legend but the jacket gives a bit tighter of a fit then the expo 44r

Re: Expedition in both skins
Why on earth would you wear a 44R with a 40 inch chest? The G&B is just hanging off you, it looks far too large.
The Legend looks a much better fit. Nice leather too.

I agree, too big by one or two sizes.

Re: Expedition in both skins
I don't know about two sizes but I was. Ill and lost 30 lbs. I was thinking about ordering a 42r this fall and if it fits comfortably you may see these up for sale? My shoulders are a little wide for my height so I may have trouble when extending my arms. I'll only know for sure when I try the smaller jacket on I suppose thanks for your honest opinion, that's part of the reason I post

Re: Expedition in both skins
I can understand going up a size to get longer sleeves or body length, but the Expedition is already pretty generously sized chest/shoulder wise;
why not just go for a 40T? Longer body and sleeves without the excessive bagginess around the chest and shoulders.
I'm slightly taller and heavier than you but my 40R fits Expedition pretty well except I'd like longer sleeves. My chest is 40 inches also, and it's
certainly not a tight jacket.

Re: Expedition in both skins
Talked to gb. They recommend I try a sz 40 but if its too tight shipping it back plus them shipping a new one can add up. Guess I'll think about it while I'm putting away the extra cash for the jacket

Re: Expedition in both skins
Is it just me or there quite a difference in the scalloping on the pocket flaps on both of those VERY nice jackets? Or is it really just camera angle. I have always wondered that about that on Expos.

Re: Expedition in both skins
just ordered a 42r from gb, but I may want to try a 40? the sizes look like they're more like half sizes, if you go to say todd's site the sleeves loose 1" with each size, on the gb site its a 1/2" for example (42 and 44 are lg, 40,38 are med)

Re: Expedition in both skins
In just looking at your photos, I'd say the 42 is going to be your best compromise, especially if you decide to wear the jacket with a light sweater underneath in cold weather.
I think a 40 would be the perfect fit, but the sleeve length would be the question mark. The 42R sleeves would solve that problem.
So, looking forward to seeing you in the 42 for comparison.

Re: Expedition in both skins
yes, my thoughts exactly, I took my 44r and rolled up the sleeves about an inch (to sz40 lenght) and it would be very close or may be to short , also don't want to go to a 40L because i like the waist short, that long waist bothers me more than the bagginess, every wrong guess however cost me 60 bucks( ordering is about 20, sending it back is about the same, then sending a new one is another 20...ouch

Yeah, but you can recoup that if/when you sell one of the 44's.
