This being his first whip, he really wanted something that encompassed all of the best attributes (in his opinion) of all of my different whips.
What he liked was:
- 10" handle
8' length
Thinner, somewhat lighter handle (lighter than the average Indy whip, for instance)
Lonestar styling
So, with all of this in mind, instead of a 6' "Aussie" whip with a slim 12" handle, which has a spring steel core, not a heavy nail, Joe made this whip with the heaviest gauge spring steel, 10" long, 8' long, and here it is:
It is Brandy in color, btw, with natural highlights.
My friend is very happy with it, as am I, and as I told him, as soon as it shows up, I'm gonna be jealous and want one for myself. And now that I've had a chance to crack it (did that Wednesday), I definitely am. Though, I realize that I will be even more jealous of it once it is more broken in. Joe's whip are the tightest out there, as those of you who own one or more well know.
But, since I have too many irons in the fire right now, it will be awhile before I make an order, though I'm thinking of having Joe make mine 7' long, possibly 7.5', and possibly with a 12" handle, with a silver ferrule so I can perhaps have my initials engraved on it. It will come out much like the "Zorro" inspired whip from this thread. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51687
Love that whip!
