What's the difference....
...Between the US Wings Cowhide and US Wings "Texas Steerhide" jackets? I noticed the site is still using the same pic of Weston. Did they just "fancy up" the description or is it a different hide than the Cowhide? Just wondering...

Re: What's the difference....
From what I've heard, the steerhide is more shaved than the standard cowhide, and therefore a thinner, more lightweight cowhide.

Like I said, though, that's just what I've heard.
I've never seen or handled this steerhide jacket, so take that info for what it's worth.

Well I ordered one on Saturday. Still haven't received an e-mail confirmation, so I doubt if they're even in-stock. If it's like my last order I'll let you know in 3 1/2 months.

Re: What's the difference....
Thanks for the info, gents. By the way does anyone know if US Wings is doing away with the Imported Cowhide Legend jackets? I noticed the "reg" is now only available in small and the 3XL. Or is it that they are just out of stock at the moment in those sizes?

When I hear the words steer hide, I think of my old Rawlings baseball mitt.
Re: What's the difference....
Schott offers some of their motorcycle jackets in either cowhide or steerhide. I've owned their "Perfecto" in both hides, and the steerhide was much stiffer, and tougher feeling. I did not know US Wings was offering any steerhide jackets.

Re: What's the difference....
Considering most of their jackets are MADE by Schott, it makes sense one would eventually surface.

Just some info I got from Gail at Schott about the difference between their steer hide vs cowhide:ron521 wrote:Schott offers some of their motorcycle jackets in either cowhide or steerhide. The naked leather Cowhide, which means there is no finish
on the leather, this allows the natural oils of the leather to surface,
keeping the leather moist and conditioned. The Steerhide leather
has a finish to the leather leather. Both leathers are 1.2-1.4mm in
thickness and a 3 oz. wt. which is very durable.
Both are essentially cow but just finished differently per Schott.
