That pesky MKVII gas mask bag strap, what to do with it.
I recently purchased a WPG W&G MKVII, came in pristine condtion, you can tell it was never issued. Which is fine with me as I plan on taking on many adventure.
The canvas strap that came with it was in such good condtion, it seemed a crime to cut it off and through it away. What should I do with it.
So I came up with an idea, I carefully cut the threads on the end furthest away from the metal buckel. I then picked up some brass D-rings at my local hardware store.
I then cut the metal buckel, it's a soft metal, didn't take much effort. I then put the D-rings on the end that was still sewn togther.
Are you seeing where this is going......... A belt. I made a belt out of and it works to.

Hey! I recently acquired one just like that from a Lounge member and I wondered what to do with it as well. I was trying to figure out a way I could keep the webbing on as well as attaching a leather strap as well. But the belt works pretty good!

Hello Croft.
I was wondering if you would be willing to post a picture of the side disc. I've been thinking of ordering one of these bags but am curious to see what condition the side disc came. Also, did you request any specs on what to look for when ordering a bag, or did you just order a bag and end up getting a pristine one?
Thanks Croft. A really nice purchase you made there.

I keep the original straps after I cut them off just in case anyone needs more webbing. I've got about 8 or 9 around here someplace. I'm thinking of making wristbands with them sewn onto some leather.

Only thing I asked for was pebbled surface on the snaps, I think all the bags that WPG has are in perrty darn good condtion. I just wanted one with the W&G on the inside.
See this thread for more info.

Oh and thanks to all, I'm happy with my idea and Wade you should start offering these, took less than 10 minutes to make and $2.10 worth of D-rings. Oh and you can send the royaltys to.............

Why do you stuff it inside the pouch, do you have a leather strap as well?, just wondering.I just stuffed the canvas strap inside the bag.
