Global gear has a tendency to do cheap and nasty on non-branded items. I personally wouldn't buy anything from them unless you know exactly what it is. And they generally tend to be overpriced. In my experience anyway.

I saw this over on Facebook a couple days back... Said the same thing as all here have.. The yoke and back pleating makes what could be a passable attempt into something like a cross between an Indy jacket and something Michael Jackson used to wear in the eighties... Not such a cool design I think..

I can't imagine many peopel over here have ever heard of Global.

Those pleats are traditional motorbike pleats, like many a Vanson or a Brooks.

My guess is not too many years ago members would have been tripping over each other to get this jackets as a close enough. But like Michael said, so many other options available now at excellent prices.

As to the quality of this particular brand I don't have a clue.

But, could the pleats at the sleeves make this a better motorcycle jacket option that any other 'real' Indy jacket? Not being a motorcycle rider myself, what I've read here is that the sleeves tend to ride too much on the Indy design when riding on a motorcycle. If the pleats are a traditional motorcycle jacket feature, maybe this is the hybrid design people have been looking for.

darthbish, Sometimes it hard to tell when someone's joking around, but since this is your thread and you asked this, I'm guessing this is s serious question, so I'll answer.

The yoke is the top horizontal panel on the jacket back. In Indy's jacket, the yoke extends to and is connected to the sleeves, unlike Global Gear's version.

If this were the only Indy Jacket available, okay, you'd take a chance. But with so many great jackets out there from reputable vendors, why even consider it?

From what I've read around here, Todd's makes an excellent jacket, has a great reputation and customer service and costs $100 less.

I saw a Global Gear jacket in the flesh at Melbourne Supanova convention last weekend. Not particularly screen accurate. At all. Huge wide sleeves, greasy dark thin leather with a heavily thick quilted interior, made in India. Massive design variations from the film jacket as you can see in the pics. It is more like an Indy style jacket than a screen or prop accurate jacket. It would not make it into anyone's top 5 Indy jackets currently available.

Ahhhhhhh, give'em a break. At least they're trying...

OK, so they don't have the huge exhibits etc that Comicon has, but the atmosphere of all the other people,..(especially those in costume)...was a HOOT..
Give the organisers time and a bit more support and I'm sure it'll go from strength to strength.

Given that the population of Melbourne is something like 4million in the metro area, getting a comic convention is a pretty good achievement I think. But yeah, it's nothing like a US convention.
