'The Xander' a small holster for my son :)

Post by Kredepops »

I'm slowly collecting an Indy costume for my son, he's only 10 months old so I have plenty of time
I'm figuring he will be old enough to appreciate it when he's about 4 years old.

Anyhow... I made this downsized leather holster for him since a real size holster will look enormous on a 4 year old.
I also got a close-enough toy gun so it had to fit that one. I used K on the run's Raiders pattern, printed it out and made a few modifications myself before I cut the leather pieces, stitched it together, dyed it and distressed it.

Sounds easy? It wasn't... Took me almost 2 days to complete :) but it was only my second time working in leather, so I learned along the way... the hard way. It's by no means perfect, but nice enough for him to play with when the time comes, and a helluva lot nicer than the crappy vinyl licensed holsters.

Here it is next to my Todds Raiders holster. The dye was a bit darker than I would've liked but I don't think he'll mind.
My son's name is Xander so here is 'The Xander' ;)

Good work buddy! Nice shape and looks like you patterned it perfectly.

If anyone knows how long it takes to hand sew one of these babies it's me.

Thanks Mike and Wade :D

Mike> haha yeah, I'm really looking forward to sharing the movies and the hobby with him :D

I've already got a bag for him the one that came with Sideshow's ToD Diorama.

It's a bit smaller than a real Gasmask bag so it's perfect for a kid.

I also got an old 6 ft whip that I used before I upgraded many years ago:

I've also got a belt and an old whipholder for him, so I only need a fedora, shirt and pants :) and boots, if I can find some in the right size, but I think I need to wait with the clothing until closer to his 4'th birthday - it would be much fun if it didn't fit him.

Wade> Indeed! I own one of your ToD holsters and the craftmanship is unrivalled. My sewing looks like poo in comparison, but it's camouflaged nicely now I've dyed the whole thing :D

Kredepops,

Great work on the munchkin holster!

May I ask, what brand is the full sized pistol?
It looks alot like the Tanaka .38 special (airsoft) I bought from Todd's (The grips and lanyard ring on mine look exactly like yours).

Thank you Kwad! :D

It is indeed a .38 'suitcase scene' Tanaka Airsoft. I love it, I bought it from Todd too some years ago, before he got the 'Cairo' replicas.
