MY CRAIGSLIST FIND

Post by DOHERTYJAX »

I was searching Craigslist and came across a set someone was selling that they won from the Florida Lottery. It came in a nice box which looks like an old crate with "property of Dr. Jones" on it. I originally thought the jackets that came with these were made by US Wings. But this one was actually made in china. The bag is really nice quality, although it looks nothing like the one Indy uses. And the shirt.....Well it is a really nice Indiana Jones fishing shirt.....

Here are some pics:

Yeah, there was quite a stir over these jackets, as they claimed to be Wings jackets in the lottery promotional information, but were clearly not. Those State lottery groups involved were contacted by USW legal representation, and those prizes were immediately pulled and replaced with real Wings jackets for the remainder of the lottery promotion.....but there were a lot of folks sweating bullets regarding these faux jackets after it hit the fan.

As I recall, it was someone from this very site that spotted the situation and reported it to USW at the time. :-k

If I recall correctly, you can call that jacket leather in the same way you can call MDF wood. They are made basicly the same way.

Hey, it's not bad for a promotional item. I kind of like the bag, myself.

Thanks. That came up a few years ago during a discussion of "Weird Al" Yankovic's Indy Gear in UHF. His bag is virtually the same in the Indy parody scenes. Technically, any kind of gear that is considered canon is Indy Gear, so if someone wanted to do a set of "Sky Pirates" gear, it'd be accurate in my book. The more I think on it, the more I think it would be kinda cool.

In fact, depending on how you feel about the novelizations, the Temple of Doom novel described Indy's bag as being made of leather. So, borderline canon there, of a kind!

Isn't that the same book that describes his hat as a "grey snap-brim fedora"? :?

Kind regards,
