I need replacement laces for my Adventurebilt boots
Are the AB boot laces any different than regular Alden 405 boot laces? Where can I get some replacements? The summit is coming up quickly and I need laces!
Thanks,

Just call them and tell them you need 405 laces. They're the same. I've got the AB's too.
I'd order five or six sets, as long as you're paying for postage. Something like $4 a pair. But I have several brown 405's.

Yep, they have 54" or 45" laces. I always opt for the 45" version myself.

Just a note I just got off the phone with the Alden shop in San Fran. He said there is only 1 size of lace for the 405s. They're sending them to me free of charge.
Not sure if maybe they discontinued one of the aforementioned lengths.

Maybe that's all he handles. The factory still sends out 54" and 45" laces.

Could be. I'm curious which ones I'll get then.

I can't believe I need to order again!!!.. I ordered 4 pair last time, and in the past two weeks, one lace on each of three different pair of Alden or AB Aldens has broken on me, one time at work with no spare pair around. I guess I'll have to start carrying a pair of laces around. I just don't trust the Alden laces. They don't seem to hold up to daily use very long.

I agree. I wear my boots a lot and I think I'm going to use some brown 550 Paracord next time. Those eyelets really are hard on the Aldens cotton laces.Indiana MarkVII wrote:I can't believe I need to order again!!!.. Re: I need replacement laces for my Adventurebilt boots
FYI, New 405 that were ordered a week before Christmas 2012 came in last week with 58" laces. I hadn't seen that length before. They seemed just a bit long. So, I bought 54" at a store and they were great. Then I measured and found out they were mislabeled...they were 60"!
I went to a shoe repair shop who has a lot of laces, he only had the dark brown (round) that I wanted in 54 or 63" I went with 63 because I skip the top 2 hooks and do the wrap around Harrison often used. For that, it's a perfect fit.

Wow! To my eye and use, anything over 45" is overkill.

Re: I need replacement laces for my Adventurebilt boots
That's what I mean. I would do the same thing lacing to the top. But with the wrap-around (even 2 hooks from the top) I found the extra length just right. Then again, no matter how you lace it, everybody's leg is going to be a different thickness, eh?Tundrarider wrote:When I ordered my shoe trees from Alden Shoes, I figured I might as well have them throw a half dozen pair of laces into the box, so I ordered those as well. I like to be prepared!!!
The laces from Alden are around 57". I lace mine to the top hook, tie them and then double-tie the bow.
