Arch, that's a fantastic photo... 1 moonstone, 1 beer, 1 sword and 3 beautiful women? Well, THAT's just good math, my friend!
Bugs, that Tawny Fawn Fed IV look amazing... and goes great with the threads, too!

Thanks, Mitch. I dont wear the TF as much as the browns. Its become my 'suit and tie' hat, as I dont wear suits that often either, being a PE teacher.

I love all the hats on you chaps. It drives me nuts. I want a tawny fawn like Bugs has.
I'm not sure if this thread is meant for NEW Feds, or just us doing our thing in the Feds....
Anyway, my brother sent me this pic he took of me from the 12th, and I really like it. We were parking our car at the Greektown Casino in downtown Detroit. The garage was packed so we had to park at the top.
P.S. Just so you know, I do not gamble. We park there for free and then go to Greek restaurants...

Here's a shot with my Fed IV Deluxe from out in our front yard as the sun was setting:
I really liked the sepia look for this one. It did make it hard to distinguish the sun from the rest of the sky. And in a way it looks like the sun rays are really just strange stripes on my coat. But I still like it.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
I've ordered 2 Fed Ivs... one for me and my son. That said, I am selling my Adventurebuilt Henry, which has only been worn once. I found that it looked a bit too tall on me for some reason. I had purchased a Fed IV for my dad for Christmas a couple of years ago and I really like the way it looks. The Henry's a bit dusty from being displayed and needs a brush. Anyone that's interested, please PM me.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
You did right, RobocopIndy!
At the end of the day, it has to look good on YOU.
We can shoot for SA specs, but if our head/face size &shape aren't EXACTLY like Harrison Ford's....
For instance, I love the brim dims on the Fed IV, but at my size (62), the crown looks a bit muffiny. But the crown is JUST RIGHT on the Fed III, but the brim isjust way too big.
So I bought a Henry and wear it all the time.

I agree. Ive been having thoughts of trimming about an eighth from the brim of my III but I cant work up the courage just yet to do it.jkdbuck76 wrote:For instance, I love the brim dims on the Fed IV, but at my size (62), the crown looks a bit muffiny. The only thing you need to consider is that you might need that 1/8" when you re-block the Fed III. That's the only thing that has kept me from cutting my Fed III Regular...SOME DAY I'm going to have it reblocked.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
Ive found that my Fed III's crown and brim are relatively huge, even compared to my Fed IV, which I feel is perfectly suited to my face and head. If and when I have to reblock it, I know that I'll have enough material to work with. All that being said, at this point I wont cut a brim on a fedora unless its at least 3 inches. I agree with you - anything less and Im bordering on not enough brim, especially when needing enough material for a slightly shrunken hat that needs a reblock.jkdbuck76 wrote:Bugs,Indiana Bugs wrote:I agree. Re: The Federation IV Display Page
It's been a while since I posted, here's an update on my hat's appearance.
I wasn't going for any real sort of screen-accuracy, but I just sort of let the taper happen, and made the crown a teardrop instead of a center dent. That's what's been going on up until this point. Unfortunately, the hat is a bit tight at times, but I stretch it out, and it's still wearable, comfortably. I have since removed the liner, and I still have it, but I think that was causing it to feel tight as well.
P.S. Dramatic picture, Arch Stanton! It looks as though it was an image from a period film of some sort, and I mean that as a compliment. The username's cool too, I'm a huge fan of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and use "The Good" as my username on some other boards.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
It's been a long time since I've posted friends. I've been away for a while, but I was always looking in. Ever since I heard that Steve Delk was talking with hats direct about a new block shape for the FedIV I was excited. And after seeing so many of them on this thread and the overwhelming praise they recieved I knew it ws the lid for me. I had found myself sans hat after both my prized and beloved AB and HJ were destroyed by my roommates dog. Life really had no meaning for me without my hat, and after dreaming and drooling for over a year with nothing to cover my head with I was able to finally squirrel away enough to buy a new lid. I'm extremely pleased with my new Fed IV deluxe! The perfect balance of affordability, quality, and durability. At the end of the day I can't wait to ditch my fire helmet and replace it with my FedIV. Thanks for all the great pics and reviews boys. It really helped alot!

Good lookin' Akubras, everyone!
Here's a picture of my Fed IV in it's current state. It's been well over a year, guys. The hat's tapered, too, but I like the crease I've got, so I may hold off on re-blocking it that soon.
And here's a straight angle:
P.S. Because of the photo rules, I've deleted most of the older photos that I knew of in this thread, and I may delete these two in a month or so, or whenever I post another update.

My travelling hat!
P.S. I am in Montréal until Wednesday visiting my ladyfriend. I was walking down the street in "Old Town" and saw THIS! I nearly wet my pants. I knew nothing about this nor even knew it existed. I looked online to see its other tour locations and this appears to be the only venue in North America. Needless to say I was too busy with my subpar previous "plans" to see it that day, but I am heading back down there Sunday to check it out. So which items should I focus on getting pics of?
This town is beautiful. A lot of stone architecture. If someone were to smash a beer bottle over my head and lay me on the street, I would wake up thinking I'm in France.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
A couple of weeks ago my fiance and I had our engagement photos taken and I got to wear my Fed IV for the shoot. We went for a vintage '40's kind of feel (I had Indy's and Marion's last scene in Raiders in mind), so I wore a suit and my favorite hat. The shots turned out real nice, and this one is my particular favorite because it shows off the hat so well. A few months ago, I tweaked the bash a little and whatever I did really made it look great.
