Is this the Raiders cotton jacket?
Today whilst in town, I went into a toy store to see if they had any Indy lego. I didn't find any Indy lego, but found something else instead. An Indy Winter Activity annual. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5254/547 ... f787_o.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the front together with the contents page, I found a very interesting picture as attached. To my eyes, the jacket does not look like it is made out of leather, but cotton. I have scanned the picture which you can view here in all sizes: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8325722@N0 ... otostream/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have seen this picture before, and I know that others have too. I believe that it surfaced around the time that Indy 4 came out, but this is the first time that I have really noticed that jacket looks 'different' somehow.
Now, I know that eveyone sees things differently, and things look different, especially on different monitors and such, but to me, I see no shine on this jacket, something that you would most likely see with leather.
Apologies for the quality of the scan.
Any views would be very much appreciated.

Hey Canyon, I think I know what your looking at there. I think that picture was part of a series of production photos, and if you look at the the Raiders jacket section of Indygear, the third picture down is I think the same jacket your looking at, from the same photo session. It's leather. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

_, thanks for the info.
I was aware of that, but wasn't sure if this picture showed the cotton jacket or not, or maybe it's just my eyes.

Just to toss this in the mix, I don't think the photo is showing a cloth jacket at all. I believe it's just a texturing of the image for print purposes, as if you'll look closely, the fedora appears to made from exactly the same 'cotton like' material.
Especially note the brim just above the eyes as well as the dents. Same texture.
Regards! Michaelson

I think the what's most noticeable is how thin the cuff is...and the stitching on the storm flap.
,
Oh. I just saw the picture now and M is right. The picture has a texture to it. I used to work in a printing factory so my eye is pretty trained. Im pretty sure that the jacket shown here is the same leather jacket shown in the picture where indy leans on his right knee. And the one when he has his hands in his pockets.

Thanks for the feedback, guys, I really appreciate it. I wasn't entirely sure about the picture, but just had to post it here just in case.
Really? Perhaps I should make a list. J/K. Seriously though. Thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated._ wrote:Anything for you, my dear...Canyon wrote:_, thanks for the info.

What you're looking at, Canyon, is the dot gain pattern of the printing. This can be especially noticeable when you scan in a picture of a previously printed image. If you look at the original closely, you'll see a series of printed dots which make up the image. Cheaper publications (like coloring books and the like) often show this more easily.

Interesting. Thanks for that.
Also, Chewie brought up a point on the Flickr page about Harrison's hair on his left (our right) is longer than usual.
The more I look at this picture, the more I realise that it has been tampered with.

Also keep in mind that jackets he wore 30 years prior probably wouldn't fit him the same now.

Re: Is this the Raiders cotton jacket?
Yeah - it was weird - the jacket I tried on from 30 years ago that I liked so much then doesn't even fit me now. I mean, I couldn't get my arm in that thing, let alone even get it on. I loved that jacket though - it had a cool tonka patch on the chest and a picture of a fireman's hat on the back. I was surprised it didn't fit - but then I was 10 when I had that jacket

What's more important is I think a few extras of this book would make a great prize at the Finger Lakes raffle table!
