For those on the Original Wings Wait List...anyone get that?

Post by RaidersBash »

Just wanted to see, for those of us who signed up for these before they were available, you know, the Imported SL's ones that were $295 retail plus $100 off for COW members making them $195 for us, but then they were all sold, etc, etc, etc.

I remember _ saying something during zippergate that none of us would see those jackets. I held out faith, but in the end I know I didn't, and finally after several back and forths with Wings - being told to buy the more expensive version but not really being able to afford the more expensive versions in the end I was told by Sarge that I shouldn't be buying ANY jacket then, regardless of price. So be it.

But for the others, I know there were lots of back and forths and what not in the threads, and Sarge SAID he'd make good for everyone who WAS on that list...

So, did anyone get the PROMISED jacket at the PROMISED price?

I have quietly stayed out of the whole thing but,I too, was on the list since the beggining and when I finially did get contacted, it was about the more expensive version. I feel it is a great price for a nice unique jacket but in the end, the price just went up way above what I had climbed on board for in the first place. :-({|=

You know, I signed up for the original batch of calfskin jackets. After completing the form they sent me and returning it, I haven't heard a thing from Wings. From everything I've read here, the jacket was never even made. Just wish that someone from the company would have had the decency to contact me and let me know that the project was either cancelled or on permanent delay.

That sounds quite a bit like what happened to me...but there's a big price difference from the originally offered $195 price, and the "you should buy this instead" $600 jacket....

I know some guys had said it sounded like a "Bait and Switch" but I agree somewhat to the counter that our little fan club is nothing if even a drop in the bucket for what that company does...

but still, it has a certain ring to it :-k

guess that's why I'm asking if anyone who signed up early on got what they signed up for for the price they did, or was everyone encouraged to buy the more expensive jacket instead.... :?

hi all,
i had signed up for the original offer in the calfskin after all the info was thrown back and forth. then i waited, kept up with all the drama, and was just hanging back to see how the "calfskin" turned out. i was contacted back in november, i think, about being on the sign up list, but after seeing the final version of the skin,(cowhide) decided not to go ahead with it. the jacket looks great, it just wasn't what i was expecting. it was just too heavy for my taste. u.s. wings did follow through. they sent me an email and gave me a phone call. they said the offer would expire and under my financial circumstances at the time, i let it go. oh well.
so that was my experiance.

I really wonder how many people were even contacted? I, for one, like many others here, never even got a call back. Ah well.

I originally sign up for the calfskin, but as I followed the development of the jacket here, it seemed less and less likely, so I called them to change my order. The rest of my story is published in other threads. I'm still wondering about the imported SL. It seems to be going back and forth on that one whether they have it or not. Oh well, I'm settled on imported cow anyway. Having seen the hide in person, it's just the softness and drape I'd expect from calfskin while still holding up like cow, which, of course, it is.

I signed up for calfskin, switched to horsehide when calfskin was canned, asked three times if I needed to switch to one of the current offerings if I wanted a jacket, with no reply, and have now officially let it go.

I originally signed up for calfskin too, and when that was confirmed by Myke via Email that that wasn't going to happen, I confirmed with Myke via email a switch to SL. Of course, all the SL's were sold, but apparently not to ANYONE on the wait list...but Sarge PROMISED he would make good for those on the wait list, at the PROMISED cow discount price...

I'm just wondering if that happened for ANYONE???? BUELLER....? BUELLER....?

So far no answer for the affirmative... :-k

I was on the list for the Calf, and a striated lamb. This was done before the "zipper scuffle". Of course the jacket offering seemed to change weekly. I just became confused, and honestly disinterested in the whole project. I was never contacted, even though I was on a "list". Sure I could have called and pressed the issue but I feel the jacket and pricing changed so much, I became apathetic to it all.

I took my money and spent it else where. I have 2 A-2 jackets in the pipeline (due late Feb). I'm pretty much done with Indy jackets. Not trying to be critical here, Sarge and his company are top notch. In this case however it seemed that promises and claims were made before the final project was even complete.

Filled out the form myself sent from Myke, (got on the list in August?) but nothing ever further. As time went along, I just got more confused and decided to let it go. I thoght we were all getting a "screen acurate" original pattern :-k I just did not have the time with work and all to read every thread and hope that I had not missed anything. Ya'll have to admit, that there was a ton of threads and numerous pages....too many to sort out fact from fiction.....love vs. hate. :Plymouth:

On the subject of US Wings, is their planned 'Jacket from each Movie' project still on track?

Good question, Kevin...

I have no idea...and, at this point, given the labor pains involved with the Legend's birth...

Well...I wouldn't bet on it.

But, that's just me running my mouth

From the occasional snippets I receive, which are few and far between, I wouldn't hold my breath. They've moved on to other projects.
