Light Grey Stetson Fedora - What do you think?
Hi Folks
Not stictly an Indy Fedora, but this is an old Stetson Hat that I picked up in an antique clothing shop in the UK. If anyone can help me with dating the hat I would appreciate it. Inside the lining is stamped with a Stetson crest in blue, and below this it says "Especially designed by Maurice L Rothschild". The sweat band is stamped "Stetson Kettle Edge". On the inside of the sweat band it still has the original price sticker that reads "MLR $7.00". Another label says " to duplicate mention E28965 and state size wanted". I attach links to some photos of the hat. What do you think? The crown is very similar to my indy hats in shape though the brim is not as wide. It is a very pale grey colour felt.
cheers

Here's a link to a Fedora Lounge post from a while back connected to the Maurice L. Rothchild lettering in your liner.
Looks like you hat may have been acquired through Hart Shaffner and Marx. The hat style screams late 1920's or early 1930's to me.
Keep it as is! It's a keeper!
Regards! Michaelson

It's a beautiful fedora! Do me a favor and NEVER change a thing on it! There are fewer and fewer "unscathed" vintage fedoras in the world. If you're tempted to do anything to it, send it to me. I run a sanctuary for vintage hats. This one looks great on you, too!

What a GREAT lookin' lid! Reminds me, I need to find that antique shop Michaelson and I went to a couple visits ago, and see if the lady still has that old open crown fedora for $30 (still in hat box!).
GREAT find. Keep it for sure. :3

Great lid. I'd say the NEWEST it could be is 1940's, but I'm inclined to agree with the 30's assessment. Nice find.

Re: Light Grey Stetson Fedora - What do you think?
Ooups... my Apologies, Mr.Stones and other members on this subject. THIS reply was intended to be published in the
Penman's section and, by accident (geez, I don't even how I did that...), I published it here along with my other reply concerning
the Stetson fedora.
I tried to delete it without success.... maybe somebody here can or know better than me how to move it at the right place?
Sorry again!
