It's lamb, Jim, but not as we know it...

So, I went and bought some thick merino sheepskin leather tanned in France, it's probably a little too thick but I liked the level of ribby character and gave it to Peter to make me a 'Hero'. Surprisingly whilst feeling pretty thick it turns out to break easily in and feels very soft.

Note: This is not 'shrunk', in fact it seems to have been ironed to hide the ribs, when you knead and manipulate the leather the grain pops out and it softens.

Peter is on the verge of getting his own leather from his suppliers so get hold of him for the latest on that. He has 2 on the go. A ribby NZ lamb and a tough washed lamb (I don't know what he will call them!).

This is the 'Hero' with me giving him my own buckles and pockets sized for me and I asked for the K stitch. Confirm those little details and you are good to go.

I'll show some pics of it on when I get a chance to take some, it's raining here today.

That is REALLY nice, Kt! I've lost track of the additional "SA" specs you need to add to Wested orders. Is it just those you mentioned, or do you need to mention things like zip type, collar/storm-flap relation, etc.?

KT,
That is absolutely the BEST Wested Raiders jacket EVER!!
Peter has really been stepping up his game lately. :notworthy:

I promised myself "No more jackets K-Wad" after getting my USW, but, this has possibly changed my mind (shh, don't tell Mrs. Wad I said that.).

Is this of the same cut as the Wested Hero jacket we've been waiting for?

it's werid. although I really love everything about this jacket. goraks new wested in dark lambskin looks like it jumped out from the screen and on kokorosans shoulders. some details are of on his jacket but still...

don't get me wrong..I'm not knocking down on this jacket. I LOOOOVE it and it looks awesome....but I just can't help feeling that wested current pattern is closer to the original then we might think. I dunno. it's JMO. the current wested pattern just needs some tweaking like the collar and yoke. look at my soft gotskin, look at my dark lambskin.. look at goaraks new jacket.

How thick is it in comparison to Wested's lambskins? Is it heavy?
And final question - how much will it cost ;) ?

Can't wait to see Peter's new leathers. This is very nice KT... very much like the leather in US Wings by appearance... I don't know if you had a chance to handle that hide in person, quite stiff when new. How is yours? It looks really nice, almost a shearling surface. Great job!! (directed to both you and Peter)

Wow KT, that is one nice looking jacket. I love the grain on that jacket as well, just looks very nice. Hopefully these have more of a baggy fit with the Raiders jacket. I am excited, Wested has come to my attention once again, I really like what Peter has been making lately and Veg tanned leather I hear is in the works as well. Should be interesting another awesome jacket offering from Wested. The only thing I guess I don't like about the jacket is the pockets, look a little long and not wide enough, but then again they are pictures I don't have the jacket in hand. Very nice jacket, well done Wested. :TOH:

Only one thing, KT....and this is just to satisfy my curiosity...

Did you take a pic of the collar/collar stand/storm flap area? It looks like, from the angle you've got the jacket set, that the collar doesn't extend past the collar stand to halfway the storm flap...

I thought, for the Raiders jacket, that was what it was supposed to do...

Pics updated in the first post. The second pic answers your question. :) It extends about a third of the way. Enough to do the job.

One of the best jackets I've seen from Wested, KT. Thanks for sharing. Just like everybody else, I'd love to hear more details about this future offer. I'm curious to see how this jacket holds up also.

Holt, did you ask for the exact same jacket only in goatskin? Or did you add modifications? Whats the lead time? I'd love to see this in goatskin.

Im going with a dark goat but not the soft. He does not have the soft one anymore but thats ok. Its only slightly thicker. He also have the lambtouch. Michaelson will be pleased to know this. Im still torn if i should go with that skin instead. Peter said it would be too thin but i dont know. Im very torn.

Sorry, if I can ask: When you say it's the "Hero" pattern, is that the "Raiders", the more 'screen accurate' 80s cut "ROLA", or a third pattern that isn't on the site yet? :-k
