Grey Camptown Metropolitan
Found the camera, so I figured I'd snag some better pictures of my newest hat (That, and the old thread I had for it got deleted somehow ).
Grey Camptown Model 1945 Metropolitan.
Oddly enough, it's hard to see the shape in these photos. Hrm. I will be taking it to get it flanged and reblocked to an open crown (which is partially to stretch it a bit, as it is a size too small, I think). I'll be buying a hat stretcher too, so I'll be keeping this updated after I've reblocked it.
This is a beast of a hat. The felt is SO thick and stiff compared to my Fed IV. Very, very warm, which makes it an excellent winter hat.

Or, you can just shave your head. Loss of that much hair is bound to take you down a hat size or two.

Well, maybe if he just shaved one side, it would take him down just half a size, with enough hair left for a combover.
Re: Grey Camptown Metropolitan
There'd be enough left for everyones combover....

Oh guys, that was a great thing to read first thing this morning. No offense was taken, at all, I promise. I was laughing harder at each post.
Thanks for the compliments, all! I swear, these pictures make it look like there isn't much shape to it, but there really truly is. Will have to try some new angles later and see if I can display it a bit better. (The hat, not the hair! )

Yeah, I was only joshin', too. Actually, I was hoping he'd send some of it my way! I could use a little extra on top!
I actually like how this hat looks with the leather band. It gives it a hint of "open road."

Well Anubis I will agree that the Metropolitan is way thicker & stiffer than the Fieldmaster by a long shot, but it does eventually soften up. Just takes a lot of handling. John can attest as to how tough it is to work with. All, in all though I can't wait to see what you do with yours. After the reblock are you going to bash it onto an Indy traveler or something different altogether?
Cheers!

Thanks very much JJ! I LOVE this hat.

Sweet hat, AnubisScales . I'm definitely diggin' the band. The color of the band complements the hat very well, also.
