Wested Strikes Again!!
Wested created another masterpiece. Inspired by Redburn`s beautiful jacket and under the guidance of jacket guru Indiana Holt, I took the plunge and got a Wested.
Dark Brown Lambskin in the most light weight skin available.
I have recently began attending the University of Gear Display with one of the most hardest teachers there..a Proffesor Mitch Larue? Some of you may know him..?
So I took a bunch of pics in different poses to show how the jacket looks when it moves...

A great thanks to Redburn, Mr. Holt, Mr. Larue and Mr. Botwright.
The jacket is the exact same weight as my Todd`s Standard which is EXACTLY what I was wanting. I know some of you guys like a heavy jacket and refer to Todd`s as a windbreaker but that is exactly what I need down here in the South Texas heat. My custom request were followed exactly. Two week turnaround time. I LOVE IT and will definitely go Wested again!
Again, Thank you very much Mr. Botwright and the crew there at Wested. Great Job!!

Absolutely gorgeous, jacket Gorak!!! I'm seriously drooling over here.
And yes, you've got to watch out for that Mitch guy. He can be pretty tough at times.

The WINDBREAKER notion is the one I push ALL THE TIME as what the original jacket was...a lightweight jacket to provide a 1 up level of protection from spiders and abrasion, but not so thick to give heat stroke when outrunning Hovitos or fighting a shirtless giant in the deserts outside Cairo.
Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
I agree with you on the skin choice. you want an accurate Indy jacket? you get it in lambskin. that is what Indy wore. thin, drapy lambskin. and your pictures prooves exactly why the lamb is such a good choice. it flows and acts just like it does on film.
yes, I too like a heavier skin but for a film accurate raiders jacket it has to be lamb IMO.

Nice. Really nice. I gotta say again, Wested is really doing great stuff. Holt, does Peter have the Holt specs set aside for the upcoming hero he has in the works? And GREAT pics, Gorak!!!

I don't see how you can improve on that! That's a Raiders of the Lost Ark jacket all the way man. Looks like you had alot of fun taking those pics. Enjoy it!

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
hey dude. how thin does it really feel? I mean, do you feel that you have to be extremely carefeul with it?
I think lambskin has a bad rep for being overly weak...but yeah, if your shot with rubber bullets it might get a few holes but that could happen to a cowhide as well..
I'm inerested in this skin...just wondering how much it differs from a authentic lambskin or my dark heavy lambskin I have. you might have seen it.. I made a thread on it not so long ago.

I love my lambskin Raiders from Wested. It's pretty useless in sub-freezing temperatures, but otherwise it's the most comfortable jacket I own, and has held up just fine from every day wear.

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
I agree with the above post...
The Lambskin Wested I have is stunning...Not the warmest jacket when the REAL cold sets in, but more than capable in 0 degrees or close...And since mine's a touch oversized I can have a jumper on with no problems when it sinks lower..It's a strong enough skin, although not as tough as cow or horse perhaps...I find no "weakness", just that it's not "as strong"...
Got my second on order as well, Cowhide this time... So I'll be able to weather the winter here a touch better hopefully..

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
Very nice, Gorak Great action shots. I am actually awaiting a dark brown lambskin Raiders myself, so I sort of vicariously experienced the unwrapping of the package! Congrats and have fun.

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
I just love it. Two weeks? That was fast!
If I sell the whip that is in Cairo Bazaar now, I'm definitely going to buy similiar jacket.
Would you mind posting some pics of your whip in bullwhip section?

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
Thanks everyone for looking and your comments...
Canyon-between us we can keep a sharp eye on that Larue charactor.
TundraRaider-You are definitely a Valedictorian in the University of Gear Display.
Raidersbash-You hit the nail right on the head. That is EXACTLY what I see in an archeologist from the 1930`s. Most of his journeys took place in those types of enviroments and those conditions would call more for just a second skin than protection from the weather.
HabuSake-That is exactly what I was trying to accomplish for those who never ordered before. I like when others have done it so that I share their experience.
CRB-Use the search engine as that is how I found more info on it. It will be explained much better than I can do. Holt said it best..Grab it by the neck and hold it under the shower head for a few minutes, drip it a few more minutes then wear the darn thing till it dries. Almost instantly makes it YOUR jacket.
Tomek-It took about two weeks but it may have been affected by this storm we are all having so maybe shorter. Pics of my whip are in Processing right now...
Holt-This skin is almost exactly like my Todd`s standard in weight, thickness, and feel. Wested is a little more soft lending to it draping better but it is super duper thin without feeling weak. Almost like a suede shirt thickness with a lining. Perfect for what I wanted. I even began trying to pull on the collar to make one side kinda pointy...I wet it and caught it in the car door and began to pull and tug it HARD untill later in the day when I thought that I may be messing up the seam under the middle of the collar...NOPE, good as new! I don`t know if it made any difference in Mr. Botwrights selection but I highly emphasized that I wanted the thiness leather he could get.
I am amazed at how quickly this thing molded to me without any distressing other than the light shower. Within 24 hours it has all the wrinkles and drape in all the right places. I am through wetting it any more and since it is raining all day today I will be wearing it through and through.

Re: Wested Strikes Again!!
Gorak, it is indeed a lovely jacket, but please reread the rules regarding the posting of images and links: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=41780" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'd suggest posting up to six actual pics of your jacket and then a link to an offsite photo album where you can showcase your jacket to your heart's delight. You will not post more then SIX photos per thread (not per post). Not to exceed 640x480 pixels. You can also post UP TO SIX ADDITIONAL LINKS to photos as well. Again, per thread, not per post. We highly recommend having ONE LINK to a page offsite to either your web page or hosting service where the remainder of your photos are for viewing.

Gorak,
Allow me to say how very flattered I am that you mentioned me in your intro to this Thread... very kind of you to compliment me like that.
Allow me to also mention how much I'm in agreement with what's being written by everyone who's posting here...
That jacket is GORGEOUS (not to mention a real ringer for the Raiders Look)...
WOW!
I don't think I'm all that much if a "Professor LaRue"... but I can tell you that if I was, I'd consider you to be the Straight A student... and this jacket, the Thesis you handed in that I proudly showed off to all the other members of the Faculty!
A+
