My new "old" Adventurebilt

Post by RayROnline »

Finally got an Adventurebilt. This from an eBay auction. I won't mention the members name because I havent asked if it's OK. I have been messing a little with the bash. I can see now why people seem so concerned with it, lol. Little changes make a big difference, and every face is different. We'll, here are a few pics with my Droid X in the bathroom mirror. (pretty much like it arrived) Not gonna win any awards for photography, but you can see the hat. Don't worry about hurting my feelings with shape comments. After all, it is used and will take some ajustment. It's really is a beautiful piece of hand craftsmanship. Now I really can't wait for the Grey Fedora I have on order with Steve Delk :D

Well, just off the top of my head (sorry, no pun intended there) I think that's a pretty fine looking lid! :)

I want to make sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing though, Ray:
Am I correct when I say that we're seeing a photo of the (reversed) mirror reflection of you & the hat in photo #1, but in photos # 2 & 3 you've "flipped" the photo around so that it's true to real life?

Oops, good point I could have reversed the image, lol. It didnt even cross mind. This 1st one is a mirror image. then I turned the camera around and looked at the viewer in the mirror.

That looks like a real sweet one! Reminds me of my first, which I was forced to sell earlier this year... :-({|=

John, I'm flattered that you noticed so quickly!
But my hatless avatar was only intended to be temporary...and only meant to prove to a few people (who were concerned that there was either a bald head or NO top to my head at all under my hat) that I do actually keep a furry noggin under my lid!

I've now corrected everything.

That looks great "as is". Couple of side shots when you get the chance cuz I think you may not need to make any changes. That first picture looks real good. These hats are jusy like our jackets...they will develope more charactor and mold to fit the personality of the owner so long as you love it, use it, and wear it as if you've been wearing it all your life.
Have fun and congrats on your new "baby".

RayROnline, you have a great looking AB there. :M:

The best advice I can offer is to not start messing around with it to try and 'tweak' it into something....but just start wearing it. You'll discover that your hat will take on YOUR personal characteristics simply due to the way you wear and handle it on a daily basis. No need to try and make it into something else when it will form into your own style

Lots of folks could learn a lot if they'd just leave things alone and let nature take its course. THAT'S why some folks look natural in a hat, and other look like they're wearing costume pieces. They don't let their hats take on their own personal characteristics from just regular use and wear.

Good luck, and great acquisition! It will last you a LONG LONG time.

Not only that M but that the main reason I never creased any of my own ( made for myself ) hats to any one scene. After a person wears the hat for some time it takes on the characteristics of the person wearing and handling the hat.

Best advise. Just wear the hat and wear it often.

Thanks, Michaelson, and everyone for all the thoughtful input. It is greatly appreciated!

On an amusing side note...I received a surprise compliment yesterday on the hat from a good friend (who had no idea what it is) who is a serious animal rights person. He is also a vegan. That means use nothing animal related...no leather belt or shoes, nothing. Conversely, he is not a judgmental, self-righteous sort like so many with his concerns, and won't preach about you wearing or using animal products, etc. That being said...I wonder if he knew that it is made from beaver fur? I didn't have the heart to tell him, lol
