Very nice rifle! Did you install the scope mount, or was that on the rifle when you purchased it? Other than that, it looks dead-on to the ones seen in the film. I'm still kicking myself to this day as I had a chance to purchase one of these in beautiful condition for a song, and passed it up. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise as I'd have to purchase new ( and expensive! ) .303 ammo to shoot with - I haven't seen any of the cheap, military surplus for these in years.

Very Nice. Vintage military rifles are soooo beautiful (except for that rail mount...not quite period)

I love old military rifles! I'm keeping my eye out for a good Lee-Enfield rifle, but next on my list is a Czech Mauser vz 24. Thanks for showing it off!

I always liked the fact that those are magazine fed.
Congrats on the purchase!

Re: My Lee-Enfield
Excellent rifle! My congratulations!
I have a No4 Mark 1 from 1943 as well as a No1 Mark 3 from 1918 myself, wich i both use for historical re-enactment.
If you have any shots of the other side, you could probably see the production year as well as the factory where it was made.
In what way is the scope rail fixed to the rifle? Because in my opinion it would be better to restore it to the way it originally was. It's more authentic that way and looks better as well. To me anyway.
By the way, you're right about it being in ToD, and I have also always wondered where they would have found them in 1935, as they weren't developed by then...

Sorry for my late reply. Here is a pic of the scope rail. It was fixed with two screws.Indiana Joosse wrote:In what way is the scope rail fixed to the rifle?
I screwed it off today.

There is a inscription on the side of the rifle "DP FDM 35 17".Indiana Joosse wrote:If you have any shots of the other side, you could probably see the production year as well as the factory where it was made.
