One last thing. I tried a tiny bit of Isopropyl Alcohol on an inside part of the jacket. It will knock down the shine a bit BUT the color comes off fairly easily too. Going by that experiment Acetone, will probably completely ruin the finish within seconds. Just sharing.

I was wondering what would happen if you tried to distress the jacket. It looks like your jacket around the pocket edge are lighter than the rest. Did you try this in that region?

Holt, mine is a lot like yours. Very little striations in comparison to Gman's and others on here. But like Sarge said, they will start to pop out with wear. I've got one panel now that is straited to beat the band, the opposite side...nothing. On my back panel I have vertical striations at the very top and the very bottom with none in the middle (I keep thinking that the striations will meet over time though).

Wear it in good health my friend!

The Canada Post was good to me today. First of all, my USW Legend in the Striated Lamb was finally released from Customs and was delivered this morning. I know I sound like everyone else when I say this, but the jacket literally feels like it was custom made for my body. There is even a little room in the chest, so when I wear it with a sweater, it's not too tight. I'm gonna break it in as much as possible over the next couple weeks and will then post pics of it for you all to see. In the meantime, Sarge if you read this, THANK YOU! Shawn in Toronto, Ontario is very happy with his purchase. It's perfect.

In other news, I also got my Alden 405's today from Schmidty! AMAZING! I'm only wearing them inside until August 27, the date of my wedding. Gonna soften and maybe darken them up a bit with some Picards, get 'em nice and broken in before my big day.

So, I know that last paragraph was a bit off topic. But, I just thought it was so cool to have two really awesome pieces of gear delivered from abroad on the same day! =)

I promise to post pics of the jacket in a couple weeks. At this time, I will also post some shots of the boots... But I'll do that in the proper section. ;)

Cheers to everyone else waiting or wearing their Legend.

Best,

s.

I am already a very very happy person. did not mean to sound unhappy if it read like that. I'm REALLY not unhappy, I think I am the most happy person in Norway right now. lol. I love everyhting about this jacket. I just noticed that some other jacket have more of striations and then others. but that is just the nature of the skin I guess. some have more grain and some have less....

Looking forward wearing the begezzes out of this one.

I got that jacket as a gift so it was used when I recieved it.

Here is what the gentleman told me about the jacket: I bought that jacket about a year ago and wore it almost everyday, even in the rain. the texture on the jacket wasn't so pronounced when I first bought it. I threw it in the dryer one day after It got drenched. when I took it out of the dryer the texture was what you see today. What I always loved about the jacket was how it distressed and the color. well thats the history of the jacket as I know it.

I am sure this is the same type of Lambskin as the Legends though.

Cheers,

Well after seeing Holt's pics, I'm not sure I should have bought MY legend. I haven't received it yet, but I bought a US made large long in antique Cow. I'm not sure now if I should have got a long, a large, or cowhide! I'm about 6'2" 185-190lbs. Jeez...

Thanks John :TOH:

here are the new ones. man! this jacket screams raiders to me. I will be taking down the old pictures down now.

I have been bunching up the sleeves and shaping the collar with my hands all day. zipped it up and sat down with enough times to get it broken in by the gut.

I think the 9''x7'' pockets look really good on my XL. it looks proportioned to rest of the jacket.

EDIT
look at this huge wide backpanel and think of Indy's when you see him turn arund after he swinges back the whip to stupido.

you know, this skin is just awesome. the way it ages is so cool. I have no doubt in my mind it will look 7 years old in one year of normal wear. but I also think it will age and distress to a certain point and then stop. the parts that will age very fast I think are all the seams, the bottom backpanel and elbows etc. the big panels itself will take long while before it will get aged and distressed.

cool skin.

I'd say go original. Striated Lamb. you really want what the movie leather was. the skin is so awesome you won't regret it I think. I know you have had goatsksin and cowhides (me too) but spoil yourself with something that is more like original. it just feels raiders. and the smell? OMG!

I wonder how it would react if you took some pecards oil and rubbed it once a year with it? I wonder if it would slow down the aging prosess as the skin gets more oily. not that I want this but i was just wondering about it...

all my oher lambksins that are rubbed with the same pecard oil makes the aged parts harder to see. it just looks dark and oily.

I think I'm just going to allow mine to age naturally for a year or two, then hit it with the good stuff.

Really digging the striations. I was concerned they would be overpowering, but they're just right. Actually, the whole dang jacket is just right! The wife's wondering when I'm going to take it off...

Hey Holt can you do me a huge favor? What is the length on the back panel? I'm now thinking I should go with a XL not a XL long. I'm basically your height and weight and I'm afraid the Long will be to Long for the Raiders look.

Good Point Zane.. Holts Legend is not a long ! He had given me his measurements and I gave them to Roz Schott and Roz said that with the Neil Cooper Pattern and the Raiders Jacket Neil gave to me Holt would take a XL not a Long in the Legend ! FYI The Legend Jacket Holt received was hand cut and hand made by Roz as a favor to Me and Michaelson !

Any idea how many inches the xl long adds compared to a regular? I would need a back of around 27.5". I have a long on order.

So now I really can't decide what to do. I talked with Rita this morning at Wings and asked her to measure a XL regular. The back length on a regular she measured was 25.5 and Holt your jacket is 26.5. ](*,) I'm wanting between 26.5-27.0 so I guess I'll wait for my long to get in.

@Indy1936
I would wait for a Long maybe and see how it fits. Then you could always order a XL regular after to compare.

I agree a 100%, now I'm afraid to get a XL Reg sent then I'll have to pay and have it sent back if it's 25.5. Maybe Sarge can help me out with return shipping if it doesn't have back length of 26.5 or so? I don't know. :? My Birthday is 2/12/11 this would make my day if I had this jacket to wear! \:D/

What is the sleeve length? Shoulder to cuff?

Thanks Holt!

Just to toss this in, with the post that Sgt. made above, all of Holt's specs are specific to his jacket, and his jacket alone as it's custom made, so don't use his as a yardstick to what is currently coming out of Wings and what YOU'LL get. =;

Ask someone who has one of the OTR's to gauge what you will receive.

When I called uswings I was also told that the back length of an xl regular is 25.5. It would be helpful to know the sleeve length though!

G-MANN

Just wanted to add...I'm not complaining I snagged it on a twig. So my fault. I am no stranger to this type of leather as I have had 2 other jackets made from the same Lambskin over the years.
Thanks for this! I snag my TN goat ALL the time. Sometimes, rather forcefully, so despite how much I kinda want a striated lamb, it's just not the right leather for a clumsy fool for me.

Nature will not change because WE want it to.

Lambskin is still lambskin. ;)

here she is is her most accurate color. you can't really see the grain but it's there...I love this jacket. It IS the ''Imam'' scene jacket. everytime I slip her on I feel like slipping on that particular jacket.

Thanks again Sarge for this wonderfull present.

It defiantly looks good! Very nice pictures Holt as usual!  Did the pecards darken the jacket a little?
