New gun and question about holster....

Post by kwad »

Hi gang,

Just got a b-day present from my dad, the 1980 H&R Sportsman I learned to shoot with. \:D/
It's a top-break, 9 shot 22lr.
It kinda reminds me of a Webley Mk IV, so I'd like to get a Webley holster for it (probably a Todd's).

I'm not sure if it will fit in the holster.
Could someone please do me a HUGE favor and measure their holster for me?

The gun measures;

Total length (muzzle to end of grip): 10 3/4"
Total height (bottom of grip to tip of rear sight): 5 1/4"
Barrel lenght: 6"

With the 6" barrel, I'm worried it will be too long overall.

Here's a couple of pics of my new plinker:

It should fit, by my measurements. In fact, your gun is a half inch shorter than my resin Webley, so you might have some breathing room. All the other measurements are about the same, and I have a Todds holster, which my Webley fits in just fine.

Thanks Travis,

I took it out this Saturday and ran about 200 rounds through it (I LOVE how cheap them 22's are to shoot!) I love it when I crack it open and all the spent shells eject all at once!

The original grips were way too chunky for my hands, so I ordered a set made out of poly-resin molded from a set of originals and reshaped them. I think it looks better with the new grips (it sure does feel better).

Still need to order a holster for it......

Thanks Rook,

This gun is a joy to shoot (and I love them top-break revolvers).
I'd love to have one of the earlier models. They had a piece grip that when removed, revealed a birdshead frame. Image
One of those with some custom grips would be awesome.

I'm suprised that more people haven't caught on to the H&R's for "close enoughs".
They are very inexpensive and quite well made.

I sold quite a few of those when I had my FFL backin the 70's.

Thing is, I haven't seen a used one in my area for well over 25 years.

They ARE well made, but they don't come out of the woodwork all that often.

Once someone purchased one, it stayed in their kit and was passed down through the family.

Great field pack/camping gun, and a favorite of trappers and small game hunters too.

Regards! Michaelson
