Gaps and stuff...Retake

Post by Holt »

Okay,

I just wanna show that I think one of the raiders jacket had gaps. They may not have been 1'' or 3'' big..(grins) and they may not be as big as a half inch either like the wings are now but in my opinion let me say that again, IN MY OPINION, one of the jackets have at least 0.25'' gaps on each side of the backpanel. Actually, the backpanel looks to be alittle missaligned as the left gap looks alittle smaller then the right but that may not be the case at all..

So, with this I think there is a gap.

Right side:
Image

the yellow line is alligned with the edge of the panel and the red is the shoulder seam. Look! what do you see? there is space between the lines. isn't there? IMO there is.

see here..

Am I the only one seeing this?

Nope, it's there. It's small but there none the less. :TOH:

Honestly, I think the problem most people have with the gap is that they get stuck on a couple of screen grabs that show 1 of the production jackets without it and take it as gospel. When in fact we know there were more than 1 jacket made for the film.

The Iman jacket alone shows numerous differences than the one used for the Idol grab.

I definately see the gap in the first three photos, and agree there is a gap there. However on the fourth I am not sure it is as big of a gap as on the ones above. Looks like the back panel creates a shadow and your using that as a gap. That is what I see. I like to think things in three dimensional. If there is a gap on the fourth picture it is small, were talking very small, it look like the backpanel curves out and away from the jacket to me, and causes a shadow so for me it is hard to tell if there is a gap or not. But I definately agree, there is a jacket here that does have a gap even though it is not featured in the movie much at all.

And that is why there is an argument to begin with.

We all have an idea of what constitutes our perfect jacket. We can take screen grabs till the cows come home but if one image doesnt jive with what a person thinks is the perfect jacket it doesn't jive. That's where the fighting starts. There are more than enough grabs showing a gap with as many showing a jacket without one. So, I say take "your" pick and go with it but no one should say emphatically that there is no gap... On every jacket. Some, yes. Others, no.

In the second pic it looks like the red line is running with the stitching, not the seam itself.

There's a gap, but it's tiny.

Some had gaps, some didn't, and that's all I'm sure of. That's the kind of thing that makes the custom jacket makers so valuable. If you see it, they can make it, and you'll be happy and certain you've got a replica even if other can't, don't, or won't see it. Personally, I see it as pink....with feathers!

Really?!?! ;)

My point was that no one can agree or see the same thing. There's always something that comes up. :TOH:

Always an argument or naysayer...

For what it's worth, I have seen the gap in that scene from my DVd, but I never saw it in any other scenes. Funny how choices define history. If there had been a gap consistently with all of the jackets, any jacket that didn't have a gap would be considered a problem. It is our own perception of what is right that shapes the argument in some ways.

But I do love the conversation.

Yes, but having an argument with someone isn't just saying, 'No it isn't'!

Huh? My Wested has that gap and so does my G&B. I always thought these jackets had a gap. The problem was only ever how big that gap was. My G&B is half an inch my Wested a little less.

My Wested has a 1cm (or 1.5cm) gap....It's probably closer to 1 and a bit centimetres.. But it's there, so I'd favour the gaps having always been there, but not easily visible..Over not being there..
I'd say yeah...There should be gaps...At about a cm or so...
I'm also guessing we'll get as many opinions as there are scenes? ](*,)

Having just checked my Todd's there is indeed a 1cm gap at that seam, another reason, as if any more were needed, to love it...

My Todd`s standard actually has what appears to be a misaligned back panel! It is slightly wider on one side than the other. I never noticed it as when it arrived, I also recieved my Wested Goat and focused on it. I hung up the Todd`s and forgot about it for about two months. I finially pulled it out, layed it on the bed and went over it in detail..that`s when I noticed the crookedness. It doesn`t show unless you lay out the jacket flat. I figured it was a manufactures mistake but now..after following this thread, it may be more screen accurate than it seems...hmmmmmm
