New plunge into ferdorahood

Post by warped in storage »

Hello all

As a green as grass "newbie" type person i have been shredding my brain with indy info overload ( weirdly that would make a great band name so i may copyright that folks be warned ha ha ) reading the sheer depth of information on every conceivable topic imaginable .

Always being a hat person from a young age this was bound to be my fav thread to plough through to start with and thankyou all for such wonderful advice an guidance

so anyway enough waffle and padding

I have decided to plump for 2 hats as i am torn between an cannot decide an lets face it a man cannot have too many hats !
so i will be purchasing an Akubra fed IV and also an AB Henry (easy choice) but what i want to know is colourwise if i go for the akubra in grey a la indys travel hat which is my intention is there a colour difference between the standard an deluxe options as to me looking from pics they do seem to be slightly different to my eyes ?

and thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me if that is so

and a big hello to you all :TOH:

Well I can't tell you about the shades of color and all that but, use the AB Henry for every day use and don't worry about babying it. It can take it. The Akubra I would get in gray and use it as a travel hat. The one thing that is the AB's weakness is Oxi-Clean do not get that on it. It will bleach it!!!

Well, Akubra's "Moonstone" isn't an exact match for either the KOTCS or the Raiders travel hat, though it is MUCH closer to the KOTCS. Carbon Grey is darker and isn't offered in the deluxe line. All other things being equal, the Moonstone should be pretty much the same (taking into account that there are natural variances in the dying process)

Cheers for the quick replies all :TOH:

an sounds like a good job i havn,t a clue what oxi clean is so there for i can,t use it ;)

so sounds like its a deluxe in moonstone so far for my travel hat an will just have to be a slightly offish kotcs
travel hat

it will only get occasional use anyway as i am looking forward to using and semi abusing my ab henry on a regular basis
from what i have read so far on cow sounds like it can take it an is one #### of a hardy piece of head gear .
Altho god knows what the mrs will say when 2 arrive altho i have a cunning plan :-k

anyway thanks for making me feel welcome on this great forum
