Actually, if you have ever seen a 1940's Californian Sportswear half-belt jacket, you'll have seen a jacket which is virtually identicall in all ways to the Surrogates jacket. I would say Tony copied the design. And his version is a lovely thing. But it is not original.TheExit148 wrote:What gospel is that? I don't think anyone here has outright said (at least in this post) that TN created any original Indy jackets or some of the other jackets. All these opinions on what Tony did but not a single bit of proof.
Re: So...um....TN jackets...
check this jacket out. I saved these pictures a long time ago on a vintage leather jacket site.
This speaks as proof to me. Nowak copied an original half belt. And what is so strange about that actually? Jacket makers do it ALL the time. To me? it seems that people are getting dissappointed if they find out he copied a jacket?? or sometimes it seems that people dont want to believe even if the 'proof' is so out there. He ain't no jacket God my friends. If you ask me? it's copied. end of story. I let the pictures speak for themselfs.
check out where the zipper ends on the front of the jacket and look at the 'surrogates' jacket. its identicall. In fact, the whole jacket looks to be identicall in skin to.
and for fun, here is the famous jacket picture.

No doubt, the Surrogates jacket is based on a vintage piece. On some other boards, people were arguing back and forth about whether or not Bruce Willis's jacket was vintage or not. There was no question that it was a vintage design, but Tony did such an amazing distressing job, that many jacket experts were convinced it was a real vintage piece.
I've seen this half-belt style of vintage jacket come up on ebay once in a while. They go for BIG money in not so great shape. I want one badly. I passed up one last year for about $650 in great condition. I've kicked myself since.
By the way, combine that vintage Californian with an A-2 and you've got the Indy jacket.

Oh and by the way, I don't think saying that a vendor copied a pattern or design is a slam at all! Look at how well he did copy it. Its awesome! Who on these boards does completely original boards anyways? Even though I would love to see some artistic interpretation of things, the majority of the members of COW would freak out if they saw something that wasn't EXACTLY what they saw on screen! Here, of all places, is where we worship people who excel in copying.

Good on you Mr Holt - those are the photos I wanted to post.
Tony did a great job remaking one of them. That's a real skill. Why do people want to give him supernatural powers? One day people will be saying that Tony invented the leather jacket...
Those half-belts are a yummy design.

I don't worship anyone but I don't go out of my way to slam someone.
Re: So...um....TN jackets...
allright, please stop it! sorry for being so direct.. but I dont care for cleaning this out one more time. I have other things to do.
Re: So...um....TN jackets...
I've posted this before, but it seems appropriate to show it again. It's one of the "Californian" horsehide jackets as well. It was my Grandpa's and he got it in '49.

None of this has to do with thread. So, holt why not lock this one down? Unless I'm right on the debunking.
Re: So...um....TN jackets...
And just to clarify, he said he copied a Hercules because that's what the someone in the production wanted. I said "This is one heck of a jacket." He said something like "Yeah, much better than a <expletive> Indiana Jones jacket!"Indiana Holt wrote:oh, well, there you have itBaldwyn wrote:When I met Tony, and looked at the Surrogates jacket he TOLD me he copied a Hercules jacket.

Tell you what. I'll just use MY great powers and lock this one.
Please, everyone, take note, I'M locking it. Ok? Got it? You, offsite, make a note of it. I'M locking it. Make sure you do a better 'cut/paste/edit' than the slopply transparent job you did LAST time to add to your 'backstory'.
Seriously, it appears the question has been answered, and this is going down the usual path, so there's nothing more to see here. Move along.
solo, call Riley, as was suggested clear back on page one and before this went so far away from the original question it got comletely lost. I had to go back to figure out what in the world started this whole thing........again.
Regards! Michaelson
