Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
it looks like the color is correct in all of the photos. i agree with you, mitch, on your observations. as i am agreeing with you while looking at the photos, i can see in my mind the screen shots from various scenes of raiders and i think these pics match them all.
the greyish one reminds me of the opening temple scene, the pinkish ones remind me of some of the outdoors shots, and the scan of the swatch just looks dead on to what we have been wanting all along. i have held out so long for this reason. i never felt the dark khaki was was ever the right color for raiders, however the closest, just not right.
the price is a little steep for my income, but it is sooooo tempting.
i am curious to see what todd's costumes will produce in the, hopefully near, future. i am gonna have to be patient and just wait and see before i take the plunge.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Well, my pair is already on order, jl... so, the only thing I'm looking forward to MORE than seeing some shots posted by new owners who ordered before me, is getting my own pair and then posting several photos that show the pants under various kinds of lighting.
(This news that I'm going to post several photos of my latest piece of Gear will come as a pleasant shock to COW Member maboot38 - who is always trying to get me to post more photos)

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
To me, the flat bed scan of the fabric is closest to what I see most of the time. The "grey" shot is obviously VERY dull and the "pink" shots look too light. I was amazed when I took these various photos because, as jlhampton pointed out, they can be matched up to various scenes in the film. This, to me at least, is proof that we've finally got the color right!

Thank you BOTH, gentlemen!
Jake:
I was, in fact, JUST looking at those very shots a few minutes ago... they make for some wonderful comparison and clarity...Thanks!
Magnoli:
No doubt! It's really amazing how much variety color-wise that these pants seem to be capable of...
Quite jaw-dropping.
I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing these in person!
Thanks again!

Hello all,
This is actually my first post here.
I got my pair recently and I love it. Just wanted to share a pic of how the color looks outdoors.
It does look kind of grey indoors, but there is a pinkish tone to it under the sun.
Thanks for a great pair of pants Magnoli.

Hello, Yuji... and Welcome!
Thanks for using your first post to present a picture of these new Magnoli Pants!
I've been wanting to see some shots (from customers) of this new pants offering.
Very glad to hear that you llike them so much, too!
I must say, my curiosity is stoked once again: I'm curious to not only see more shots of these under varying kinds of lighting... but also to see these in person for myself!
Once again, Welcome!

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Hello Mitch, and thanks very much for the warm welcome .
As already mentioned here, I think the new Magnoli pants match the various Raiders screen shots, from a greyish color to a brown/pinkish shade.
I own a Wested pants too but IMO I've always felt it looked too brown, so I'm happy with the new pants.
Hope yours arrives soon.
Thanks again for the welcome.

congrats on the new pants!
maybe a side by side comparison of your westeds and the new magnoli's would be in order.
i think we'd all be curious to see that.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
so far so good. i always thought the westeds were a little too much on the warm side in terms of color. they never appeared to have enough of that grayish tone to them.
i am liking these new pants a great deal more the more i see them.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
I am really amazed how do these trousers look! But I have a question for Magnoli. Can the crotch length be customised because it seems to me that it is a bit short and very modern styled?
Thanks,

Some outdoor comparison shots.
This shot is with sun light. The left pants is the Wested.
This shot is in the shade.
I love the way the color seems to differ depending on the lighting, from a pinkinsh brown to a greyish shade.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
yuji,
you made the comment on how these pants have different color characteristics under various lighting conditions and the awesome thing about it is, that's what we've been seeing in the film. these pants have been, so far, emulating this effect in your pics. i think this is pretty cool. i believe this new offering is the real deal. i'm so glad magnoli took it to this level. it's definately what i've been waiting for. even though the price is a little steep, i'm ready to make an order.
i am concerned about magnoli's comment on doing the military hem, that it might not be a good idea if they have not previously made pants for the customer. i suppose the issue is, perhaps, the proper measurements in length. ??
yugi, did you get the hem or did you order unfinished?
magnoli, your welcome to chime in if you can enlighten us.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Basically, the issue with the military hem is that it requires cutting the end of the leg to reattach the hem. Unlike a normal hem, which is just the cloth folded under and stitched, this cannot be let down if it's too short, and even shortening it (if it's too long) is much more difficult than altering a normal hem.
So, if you really want the true military hem, it's best to order unhemmed then have it done locally. I can provide an illustrated explanation which you can bring to your local seamstress/tailor so they can do it properly.
Kind regards,
Indy

Hi jl, and I agree with you completely regarding the color.
Since you already have your answer from the experts concerning the military hem, I'll just mention that I ordered mine with a normal hem.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Waiting for me on the porch today, courtesy of DHL, was a package from Magnoli Clothiers...inside, the new calvary twill adventure pants! All I can say is...WOW!!! I'm no Harrison Ford (not by a long, long, LONG shot...) but I'll tell you what, when I put those pants on, I felt like Indiana Jones.
I have to say, I was a bit thrown by the grayish color in some of the pics I've seen, but my fears vanished the second I laid eyes on them...the perfect Indy brown, maybe even a bit pink-ish! Nice color, not TOO brown, just right. Magnoli NAILED the color and all the details perfectly. And they couldn't fit better!
Magnoli, from the bottom of my heart, thanks, these are by far the best pants I've ever owned, seriously, WELL worth the price. Actually, I just placed an order for the "B" adventure shirt (light khaki) last night, can't wait.
Hopefully pics soon, along with my 747 Nowak CS...

singsing, your comment(s) have me very stoked...
Thanks for posting them!
Speaking for myself, I'm feeling a LOT of internal conflict right now:
The GOOD NEWS is that I found out that UPS just deliverd my pants to the house this afternoon!
The BAD NEWS (for now) is that as soon as I get home and grab some supper I'm on a family Road Trip that'll take me into the middle of next week!
I'm hoping that I'll at least have time to try them on, but I'd also wanted to see how they look in Full Gear and maybe post a few photos here in this Thread...
I guess you're all safe for now...

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
What fit do most people order when ordering the Magnoli Indy Pant? ie; Loosely Fitting, Very Loose, Very Baggy
Also the crotch measurment confuses me since the Indy pant seems to have a longer crotch, how do you factor this into your order?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

My choice was loosely fitting, I am not sure how loosely fit that means, but I did not want it skin tight on my legs, loose enough, but not too baggy or very loose. Magnoli, might be able to better explain each of those.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
I don't know if it is too late to help you but in my experience with Magnoli, it is better to error on the side of too loose than too tight. Any extra measurements or details you can give him will help him out. For example, if you wear your pants higher or lower than your natural waist, let him know what that measurement is. Or tell him that your actual thigh measurement is XX, but you want the pants thigh to be YY. You can always have the pants brought in, but very rarely can you have them let out. IT took me I think three pairs of pants to get the measurements correct. But it was all my fault.IndianaChris711 wrote:My choice was loosely fitting, I am not sure how loosely fit that means, but I did not want it skin tight on my legs, loose enough, but not too baggy or very loose. My sincerest apologies for not having made any comment about the arrival of my Magnoli Pants earlier... by way of an explanation I'll simply say this: I had my own variation on the same sort of scenario Bruce Wayne describes (above)...
Point being: I received my pants/have held them in my hands/tried them on/etc... and while they have been sent for some sizing adjustments (thanks to the incredibly accommodating Mr. Magnoli), I can wholeheartedly say that I love 'em! (In fact, I'm going crazy looking forward to getting them back... I just think they're GREAT!)
These pants looked (and felt) PERFECT to me... amazing material and wonderful COLOR. When I contacted Indy, I congratulated him on a wonderful garment, saying "I can't tell you how impressed I am with the way these look!"
I do apologize for the delay in hearing back from me on this matter (I've basically been counting down the days until I have them back in my hands)... but I promise that when I get them back I'll be immediately posting photos to properly illustrate how great I think these are!
(I DO realize that without those photos, my words ARE just that... some words...)
Cheers,

I also have gotten my pants and they are at the tailor being hemmed, will not be done till a week from today as there is a long line of work in front of me, I guess a very busy time of year, but I will post pictures as well once I get the pants back next week hopefully. Just wanted to at least say I did get the pants and they fit well.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Just so everyoine knows, I believe Magnoli recomends washing these new pants inside out in cold water if you use a machine to wash them. I forgot to do both. I don't recommend getting into the habit of doing this, but I just got them out of the washing machine & before I hung them up to dry, they still seem to fit fine. I knew when I bought them it was only a matter of time bifore I made that mistake, I just didn't expect it to happen this soon.
Thanx!!!

Mitch those are great pics AGAIN!! Yeah, definitely Mag vintage brown are on the list to get. They look real comfortable and durable and like they could be dressed up to go to the office. Thanks for sharing those.
Bruce, Thanks too for the comparison of the colors. I think that is very important to understand the relationship of all the shades available. But man how would it be to have 3 pairs of Mag pants and a shirt. How do you like them all? It makes you want to go all Magnoli gear...

Yes, awesome pics Mitch!
Been looking forward to seeing them.
The pants color perfectly match your gear. Beautiful shots!
Thanks for the comparison pics Bruce.
I have the Vintage brown and Dark Khaki too, but I was always curious about Goldenrod.
It does have that pink shade as they say.

I have actually owned about six or seven pairs of Magnoli's pants over the last two years. Some (I think two pair) I couldn't wear becasue of sizing issues becasue I gave poor measurements. The rest just got ruined thru use. Hexk, one pair got snagged on a rusty nail on a archaeology dig this past summer. I stitch them back up & proceded to completly ruin them a month later putting a roof on my Old Man's Man Cave. They were covered in asphalt cement. The vintage brown in the pic I provided above I accidently shrank in the washing machine.

Bartram, whipcracker, yuji:
Thanks very much, guys! I really appreciate the compliments. Really glad you like the look of this great offering from Magnoli.
(whipcracker, my apologies for any confusion: As I look at the time on the individual Posts I'm just now realizing that you'd already seen THIS Thread and posted on it before I was responding to your question about the pants over in the "Nowak Jacket Owners Thread" ... Again, sorry 'bout that)
Michael, thanks so much for the flattering words...
And you're RIGHT, my friend: seems as though even though there are quite a few folks who OWN these pants, photos are hard to come by... I'm happy I was someone who could help out a little with a few pictures (although I can't help but feel that the brightness of the sun on the day these photos were taken creates the illusion of the pants having a lot less brown "in them" than they often appear to... I'll have to get one or two shots taken either indoors or on an overcast day to try to show this as well)
To answer your questions:
You asked "can you describe how you requesting your original sizing? Also, perhaps discuss what issues you sent them back for and how were these issues improved?"
I'll answer the second question first (easily done, since it's a quick & easy answer):
The only issue with the pants that arose was that there seemed to be a misunderstanding regarding the length of the pant legs. That's it. Nothing more to say, really (except that Indy Magnoli - always setting the bar on what I like to call a "John Penman Level" of Customer Service - was completely accommodating in getting things set straight... which will come as no surprise, I'm sure, to anyone who's done business with him before)
Here's exactly what I wrote to Magnoli when ordering these pants (taken directly from my e-mail to him):
1 Pair of Magnoli Adventure Pants
- Color: Vintage Brown
- Front Closure: Button Fly
- Material: Cavarly Twill Wool Blend
Here's the measurements of the pants that I would like made (with a few notes about some of the measurements):
- Waist: Please make it 38"
- Thigh Circumference: Please make them 31"
This is the measure of the total circumference for each leg when measured at it's widest point (at crotch height from crotch out to side of leg)
- In-seam: Please make them 33"
- Total Length of leg of pants from waist down to bottom of hem (because pants will have a Military Hem I want to be VERY specific):
Please make them so that the FRONT of the leg measures 43" (from the waist down to where the hem of the pants touch the shoe) and so that the BACK of the leg measures 44" (from the waist down to where the hem of the pants touch the heel of the shoe)
- U-crotch: Please make them 30"
Pants should have "Military Hem"
Hope this info is helpful!

These new pants really are awesome. I wonder though, are the flap pockets too high up? Seems like they would be better if they were dropped a 1/2 inch.yuji wrote:Thanks, and here's a shot under artificial lighting(with flash).
The left pants is the Wested.
Weather permitting, I'll try to get some comparison shots outdoors later in the week.

They did not shrink in size, but the inseam is now between 24-25 inches. Everything else fits fine otherwise.Tundrarider wrote:Is that so??? What size would you say they are now? mitch,
i, too, have been waiting to see the pics of your new magnoli trousers. i have to agree, they look awesome and i will be getting some in the near future. i see that you had them do the military hem for you instead of having them unfinished and doing it locally. magnoli suggested doing it that way, however, i suppose with the proper measurements he will go ahead and make them with the hem? was there any deterrant on his part to do it that way? obviously it turned out well in the end. i think i will request them the same way. thanks again for posting the pics. they are great looking pants and perhaps i will place my order around the first of the year.

Re: Amazing and new Indy adventure pants from Magnoli
Hi jl,
First of all, glad you like the pants...
When I first placed my order and mentioned that I'd like the Military Hem he wrote back to confirm that he'd recieved my e-mail and added "We can do the military hem, but it's best to have it done locally as if there is any mistake in length, it's not easily remedied, so unhemmed is certainly safer"
I responded that I was still interested in the Military Hem and he didn't say another word to disuade me... but as you can see in my earlier post, the e-mail I sent him with the measurements made very specific mention of the length of the pant leg in front AND in back.
I hope this info helps.

Well, I've been on the bubble on ordering these, but seeing these pictures has my finger hovering over the "place in cart" button.
Looking good, all.

mitch,
thanks for the added info on the military hem. much appreciated. i will most likely do what you did and take the precise measurements "front" and "back" so it can be left up to the professionals to comlete the hem. i'm not so confident in any local seamstress to be familiar with the task. enjoy the pants!

Cheers, my friend.
Once you have them in hand, I hope you'll post a few shots here as well.
